Yes, agreed, Gus has looked very strong. His D has really picked up. Part of it is just filling out and getting stronger. For a little guy, he's battling well. I can't be bothered to check, but I think he's still younger now than Kimmo was when he finally came over.

After looking at that replay of the first Bruins goal, I feel the need for some crazy laser-based goal review system.

Were that puck swatted a few frames earlier, the video would have been practically inconclusive because the camera isn't at a true 90 degree angle here and the War Room in Toronto doesn't have any applied geometry people there it seems

I thought he had another great game. People around here will want to be using him as a key piece in a trade soon!

I always wondered whether it would be possible to put sensors in the a puck-width behind the post and have the puck coated in some kind of something that makes it go off if it touches it.

Basically instead of having the yellow line literally having a sensor installed either under the ice or in the net behind the crossbar that detects some kind of coating on the puck. Maybe use the same technology that they used to use for the glow puck.

@David_Strehle
Lauridsen told me that Chara skated by the Flyers bench & told Ollie "You owe me a beer".

I'm guardedly optimistic about Steve Mason turning it around. Yet another fantastic game by him. As much as Reese gets dismissed as a terrible goaltending coach, it seems Reese has gotten through to Mason. Maybe Reese isn't the problem with Bryzgalov after all and maybe Bryzgalov just doesn't listen to the goaltending coach......

I think Gus is ascending to a NHL regular now, this playing time is doing nothing but help him

I'm guarded about tossing any laurels at Reese for his short work with Mason. It could be (as I think was mentioned in the goaltending thread) that Mason is more athletic than Bryzgalov, so he has the reaction time for being further back in the crease. I don't know; goaltenders are a crazy lot. Being one myself, I know!

So far, I must say I like what I've seen of Mason, who was all but exiled in Columbus. However, I'll stay neutral on the Mason experiment until we are well into next season.

The goal that was scored on manning is one of the funniest goals I have ever seen. It reminded me of that college football clip where the play starts and the oline man just stays in his stance for
Like 10 seconds...

It's been a long time since I've seen one of our D-men get abused so badly. Other than that, I didn't think Manning was awful.

The confusion post-game regarding the two quickest goals in team history has been rectified:

Quote:
After consulting with Elias & pulling game sheets, #Flyers determined 2 goals in 7 seconds Tuesday tied franchise mark done twice in past
For some reason, many initial reports challenged the mark and cited a game in the 80s.

Quote:
Error in #Flyers media guide ... Flyers 2 goals in 7 seconds tonight is actually 1 second shy of club record.

Quote:
Correction to earlier #Flyers note. It appears goals 7 seconds apart is tied for 2nd fastest 2 goals in team history. 2 in 6 secs 1/19/85

1. Good win!
2. Why isn't the overhead camera centered on the goal line? It kind of seemed it was in at first, but when looking from that weird angle you can't tell ****.
3. Mason was great.
4. Khudobin was also great (apart from Chara's snipe), I'd love to have him here.
5. Thornton is a class act, that's how you fight.

So someone somewhere heard long ago something about him heading for Russia, and now everyone takes this as a given. Sound logic right there.

Do you want to give a goalie who has under 50 games in the NHL a contract(which means we buy out Bryz) to go with a tandem of Mason and Khudobin? That is the formula for success. Sound logic right there.

Khudobin has 21 games in the NHL. Quite the small sample size to be hoping he and Mason could carry the work load.

Damn, so how do you get over 50 games without a contract?
