Not for everyone, but I've had good food there when visiting the DC area. Would go again.

Southside 815 is one of the best cheap eats in old town.

Old Ebbitt is a solid offerring near the White House, but Ben's Chili Bowl is as uniquely DC as it gets for cheap eats. Not particularly walkable from the White House, but easily reachable by Metro.

I am going to the game on Sat (4/27) . What time do they open the arena ?

I booked this trip in Jan thinking it would be the last B's game of the year. Because of all of the trouble in Boston it is no longer.

Looking forward to the game. I went a few years ago and the Caps fans were cool.

Thank s!

Typically 1 hour before game time. I'd highly recommend getting there early. Due to increased security measures and a ridiculous ticketing system this year for STHs, the lines to get in have been significantly longer and slower. I showed up 15 minutes before game time one game this year and missed the first 4 minutes of game play.

OK Thanks !

I like to get there for the pre game skate . I understand about the security as I am a Boston STH and it's been a difficult week.

See you there

Pro tip: If you have tickets for any upper level (2-4), take the elevators inside the F street entrance. It skips the backup at the ticket scanners.

Going to the game tomorrow!

Hey guys, wanting to see some playoff hockey and the ticket prices don't look too bad for the caps so I'm going to head to the game tomorrow from Philly. I don't mind which team shoots twice, but are there any suggestions where I should sit? I've never been to this venue before. I'd prefer something up high.

Also, I'll be in the area for the day, anything I should check out before/after the game?

Thanks!

Stubhub has a decent image of the view from each section so use that as a guide if you like. There's nothing major in terms of must-haves or things to avoid (although Horn Guy in section 415 and Goat in section 105 can both be pretty loud if you're near them) so it really depends on what little things you care about and how much you want to spend, I suppose.

Just walk around the mall - walking distance from Verizon center. They just finished putting new grass on the mall. It looks fantastic.

You'll just need to go back through this thread as there are several suggestions already posted.

hey guys, Im relatively new to the DC area, staying in DC for the summer, and was looking for a place to watch tonight's Boston/Pitt game. I saw some bar suggestions for watching caps games, but was wondering about any bars that would show out of town games/ have a good crowd?

Hrm. I don't know of much in D.C., but if you can find a Glory Days, they have super awesome wings and tons of games on.

The Greene Turtle is the same way. Only one downtown is the one attached to the VC.

I'm planning a family trip to D.C. sometime in February, hopefully during a time when the Caps are playing at home more than once. What's the likelihood of me getting six seats together for my group? (3 of our group are kids, aged 11, 9, and 7.) Also, public transportation goes right to the Verizon center, correct? Thanks for any advice/info you can provide.

The Gallery Place subway station is immediately next to the Verizon Center. I'm sure there are buses that also stop there (I've seen them), but have no familiarity with the DC bus system.

Me and my husband have decided to go to D.C. sometime next year and I was wondering how feasible it would be to take a day trip to the ocean while we were out there? We're from Colorado and being that close to the coast is kind of tempting (I've never been east of Chicago so I have no clue).
