On April 30th every team is 0-0. It's a new season and anything can happen. You want to be playing your best hockey down the stretch and I think we are. You have to believe!

Next two games will tell a lot. Last night was some of the worst hockey I have seen from this team in a long time. They really need to rebound.

I have to disagree here. I concur that the Isles played badly last night. But the next two games I feel should be about resting tired players and working on areas that ned work, with no particular focus on winning. I know that wins can improve their seed, but i think getting healthy and working on things is a better focus so that they can survivie the first round.

Here is where I am coming from on this point.

I think the game against the Rags was their best game in this stretch. These last few games I have noticed stretches of some poor play that they were able to survive and rebound within the game to play really well especially on team defense.

Last night was a total breakdown and regression after having two days off. If we really want to be honest last night was a real crap out. I expected them to come out with brute force last night and not be denied, instead all I saw was a lot of poking around in the corners, stupid blind passes and a complete inability to get out of their own zone. This team is two inches and one post from being on the outside looking in.

So was the last month an arbitration, a lightning in a bottle moment?

I don't think so, but I do think that this team is young, inexperienced and prone to setbacks.

So IMHO the next two games will tell how quickly they can identify what they need to do to get back to playing with the intensity, fortitude, and mental awareness that got them in the playoffs.

I would rest Nabby next game, but its been a short season and these guys should still be able to go.
