Big Game Story: Rubber match of three meetings. The Detroit Red Wings won 3-2 Feb. 10; the Los Angeles Kings were victorious 2-1 Feb. 27. This is the game in hand Detroit holds on the Columbus Blue Jackets, trailing by one point for eighth place in the Western Conference. The Red Wings close with a home game against the Nashville Predators on Thursday before a season finale at the also-in-contention Dallas Stars on Saturday. If Detroit wins all three, they are in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 22nd consecutive season.
KINGS need to remind The WINGS and THEMSELVES which team just won the Stanley Cup Championship. GO KINGS GO !!!

We got the goal at the end of the [second] period. I think that’s just like any team. We built momentum off that. We had a first good shift, and you kind of build on that. Bernie made a couple saves in the third that he had to to give us a chance to win, and we had some opportunities at the end. I don’t know if Backstrom – it looked like he made a great on Slava there with 10 seconds left. But we didn’t play three periods and we didn’t deserve to win the game.
Yeah, I mean we knew that coming in. They’re fighting for a playoff spot. They’re right there. There’s…three or four teams fighting for two spots, and they want to keep pushing forward. They played with the determination to win the game tonight.
The first two periods we didn’t play. I mean, they played a good game. They were desperate. They were hungry. We just didn’t have any of that. We can’t win a game – we’ve done it in the past where we’ve played one good period and won a game, but this time of the year it’s not going to happen, especially against a team like that. We need some points."

I mean, I know we were in that position last year, and our playoffs started with about 15 games to go in the season or 20. Now we definitely know what the other team is thinking to get into the playoffs and what we were thinking last year."

On the game’s struggles in the first and second periods: “I think we just got outworked. We turned pucks over. We weren’t skating. They were the hungrier team, and they won all the battles.”
On playing a desperate team: “Yeah. It was a pretty important one for us, too. Mean, we should’ve been ready, right? We needed these two points, and there’s no excuses. We needed to be ready. We better be ready tomorrow.”
On whether it’s good to be playing again on Wednesday: “Yeah. It’s always good. Obviously we need to learn from this, but it’s nice that we get to go right back at it tomorrow. Now it’s a really big two points.”
On if his body is holding up well with heavy ice time late in a compacted season: “Yeah, I’m fine.”
On whether the heavy ice time got him in a good rhythm: “I didn’t even really notice it too much. I thought we were rolling ‘em pretty good. I’m not sure what it looked like from up there.”

On whether he’s concerned that Dustin Brown’s hit on Jason Pominville could be reviewed by the league: “No.”

LET'S GO KINGS !!!

- UPCOMING SCHEDULE / ONLY 2 Games until PLAYOFFS! -

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Looking for a solid effort from us. Hoping Detroit grips their sticks too tightly out of desparation. Lots of pressure on that team to get in.

Jackets fan here to support the Kings clinching 4th spot....and helping CBJ stay in their playoff spot. Just imagine when the talking heads go on and on about how Detroit missed the playoffs for the first time in two decades, and your team played a huge part in the final blow. It would be glorious!

Probably no Brown tonight. He's got his first ever hearing this morning.

https://twitter.com/JSportsnet/statu...57387808772096

Kypreos says NHL views hit as suspension-worthy.

Kings win (in any fashion) plus San Jose regulation loss = 4th seed.

Kypreos can't find his behind with both hands and a map, so I'd take what he says with a huge grain of salt. Having said that, I think Brown probably does sit for a game or two.

All for it. We've all occasionally had our differences, to be sure (let's just not talk about #77, kthx ), but tonight every Jackets fan is a Kings fan.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Come on Kings! CBJ are counting on you.

If I could say two things to your team tonight, they would be:

1) Forecheck like hell--their dman will cough up pucks all day
2) Stay out of the box--outside of dats and zetts, they cant do much 5 on 5

You do those 2 things and you will win.

mmk HF, I'm going to be using this thread to keep me updated on the game. My 1 class this semester is tonight, right during the game, so I will be missing it

Deal. I'm more a fan of #5 fan myself but I like pretty much everyone on the team.

Fraser will go back in.
Clifford will likely move to top 6 minutes.

We should win this, we should have tons of energy since no one showed up last game. It's not a back to back
Hey, actually that's right!

I hope whatever (reported from FSW) 'loud' conversation Sutter had with the team last night sank in. It's not like this team to tank two games. I would like to see a solid 1st period, pedal to the metal. Put the Wing back on their heels.

What you've said doesn't exactly inspire confidence...
