Totally suits him now.
I was thinking you wanted to call him Newton cause he looks like the kind of guy who could eat a box of Fig Newtons in one sitting

Does anyone else thinkg that Wil Fraser -enounciates-each-of-his-words-like-he-is-in-a-class-on-being-a-radio-DJ. hahahahah it sounds so un-natural on the radio
Also I get the feeling he is using a textbook all the time and taking the opposing arguement each time from Dustin just to get some discussion going.

Sweet I don't have to immediately change my radio station if I accidentally have it on 1260 between 10 and noon.

Great news. I hate getting into my car between 10am and 12 noon and hearing Rome. He's like the Oprah Winfrey of the sports world. He never talks about the sports themselves.. just the drama life of the athletes.

Team1260 is getting rid of Rome??

Hallelujah! Now I don't need to switch to FM radio for 2 hours every day.

Awesome news. I hate Rome. I've never heard a guy who can talk for 30 minutes about something and never say much, while circling the issue like Indians circling a wagon train.

I met Jason Strudwick yesterday. Great guy with a genuine interest in people, I think, and stuff in general. Jason, if you read this, you're terrific.

oh god, more oilers talk? Aren't the morning show, Spector, Gregor and Strudwick enough?
As a Jungle fan for over a decade, I'll miss it on 1260. But there's a ton of differernt ways to catch the show online/thru mobile apps.

I get Rome isn't for everyone, but its his variety that makes things interesting. He gets great interviews and has unique takes. I appreciate both

I could. I want more non-Oilers content. Need more Esks and Oil Kings. I know this will be an unpopular opinion but how much can you dissect everything?

Rome just sounds like your everyday loudmouth American.
Force feeding information with loud noises.

Like all those morons on CNN.

Your're half-right. You don't know me. However I do use this board and I don't think there's a need for 10 more hours of Oilers talk every week. Never has so much been said about a franchise (outside of Toronto) that has delivered so little for so long.

The Jim Rome discussion elsewhere in this thread is irrelevant. If you hate him, he's gone. Those of us who like him can find his show elsewhere when we want to hear it. This is a format issue not a Rome issue.

Are there really not that many guys who could talk more sports than just hockey in Edmonton? Whatever happened to Nick the American's MLB show on the station?

the problem is, Oiler talk is what moves the needle

Morning Show- mostly Oiler talk
Lowetide show- all Oiler talk
Spector- mostly Oiler talk, all NHL talk
Gregor- mostly Oiler talk, some Esks talk/Rush talk etc..
Strudwick- Oiler post-game, some Oil King stuff...mostly hockey

frankly, I'll miss Rome...it's a nice break from the local stuff where I learn about other perspectives on other sports..funny too

I like the all Oilers talk. I honestly get tired of hearing from Derek Laxdal and Bob Green all the time on Stauffer's show.

I am also a big Jim Rome fan, but haven't listened much since they cut the third hour of the program.

The volume goes up when they come on, although that may change soon if the OKs don't pick up the pace against the Hitmen. To each his own. I love the change of pace.

I always enjoyed Rome... that sucks that he'll be gone... I enjoy many American sports commentators and radio hosts, Rome is/was one of them... I just enjoy NFL and NBA talk, that was about the only time other than ESPN All Night/SportsCenter after midnight or ESPN Radio on weekends that you could hear discussion and stories on other sports.

I'm another non Rome fan. Everything about his show, from his music, which is usually a poor choice and goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on, to his jokes, to his loud, obnoxious voice.

He's too American for this guy.

I'm also not a big NFL, NBA, or MLB fan, so that plays into it as well.

If they were going to bring in any American Sports radio, I would much prefer to have Dan LeBatard and Papi. Papi makes me smile.

I don't know how even the most die hard of an Oiler fan could feel the need for an extra two hours of Oil talk. Most of the discussion on the various shows is just a rehashing of what was said on the previous one. They may as well start branding themselves as Oilers radio, it's not really "sports" radio anymore. I'm not able to listen often from 10-12 anyway, but I'll miss Rome those chances I do get. If you want any MLB, NBA, or NCAA discussion, you're out of luck on 1260 these days.

Only time Rome's show is listenable is when his producer Kyle is co-hosting. That guy is hilarious.

I'm no Rome fan, I usually listen to satellite radio when I want NFL. I am listening to Strudwick and he had Gregor on. It seems like all the hosts come on each others show and talk about what they have either brought up earlier or are going to bring up later. Gets a little repetitive some days.
