Don't think he'd get past Buffalo (who the scout I referred to represents) at 6th overall if the standings stood the same today.
Too bad Buffalo will be picking too high (or low, depending on which way you look at it) to select him, since they're worthless pieces of crap and finish 9th in the conference with regularity.

Since last year's draft I've always pictured Monahan as an Oiler. If things continue to pan out the way they are right now, the Oilers will be in contention to draft him at around 8-10 overall. That would be awesome.

Few mocks have him falling below the eighth pick. Not sure of the argument that has him available much beyond...

Monahan will go somewhere between 5-8. I think we can all agree Jones, MacKinnon, and Droun, Barkov will go at the top.

That leaves Lindholm, Nurse, Monahan, and maybe Nichuskin. to go in the 5-8 range.

Seems like a Couturier clone, but bigger.

I feel like Monahan is going to go in a draft slot that the Leafs could realistically trade up to.

I hope they consider it. He's exactly the type of prospect we need. But then again, they're the experts, so maybe they think they can get a steal in the 15-25 range and it's not worth it to move up.

It would take a lot to move from the teens or twenties into the top eight of this draft. Probably a lot more than Toronto could, would, or should be willing to give up.

monahan will be one of the best players in this draft. A team will draft him in the top 6

Unless the Oilers really like Darnell Nurse and are willing to wait a few years for him to develop/fill out, from the sounds of it they are targeting a (preferably big) center from this draft.

Monahan probably will not last past the Oilers pick. I think they will take him or Lindholm.

I have him going in the 7-9 range but whoever drafts him will be getting a top 5 talent in most draft years

Do you guys think he'll be NHL ready next season? He seems like a safe pick.

Could see him getting a few games but I think it would be best to let him play another JR year.

Could be used in a Couturier sort of role, but I think if a team wants to develop his offense another year in juniors would be best

Haven't seen a lot of Monahan unfortunately. Does he have the size/skills to make the jump to the NHL right away or he'd be better served to play juniors for another year or two?

He could. He has an NHL frame already and showed very good offense on a very poor team this year. That being said, another year in junior to polish his skills wouldn't be a bad thing.
