As for potential 1st round opponents I see it going as follows:
New York Islanders: Bruins win series 4-0
New York Rangers: Bruins win series 4-2
Toronto Maple Leafs: Bruins win series 4-0
Ottawa Senators: Bruins win series 4-2
That's pretty bold. Underestimating those teams is a good way to get embarrassed in the 1st round.

I agree maybe the sweeps are a little bold, but if we can't get past this hump and beat any of those 4 teams, that's pretty embarrassing. Two years in a row. We should be the favorites in any of those series and for a good reason.

Obviously NYR has Lundqvist, but we've outplayed them all year long. Beat them game 1, Gaborik pulled the win out of his ass in game 2, and he's a Bruins killer anyway. He's gone now, and we didn't play great game 3 but managed to tie it and almost get the shootout win. They might be getting hot at the right time, but New York never really dominates in the playoffs. It took them 7 games against the 8th and 7th seed and they lost to the 6th last year. I don't want them in the first round, but no matter who we face, we should win. Very embarrassing if we don't.

I think we get the Senators or Islanders. I think NY either surges above or below them. Hopefully I'm right. Unless Montreal makes a huge rebound the division should be ours, as well.

Fans underestimating teams will not make the Bruins lose.

Order of success we'd have on the likely teams. This considers Karlson healthy for Ottawa, but not Spezza:

easiest to hardest:

Islanders
Leafs
Sens
Rangers

Sens with EK are so different given the boost their PP% gets. Would be a tough 7 gamer. Without him probably done in 6.

+a million

Have never and will never understand why people think this. Also hate when posters warn us not to look ahead. Like fans looking ahead = the team looking ahead.

Please, the Leafs...Please!!

But we'll grab the division, and won't happen.

Be interesting to see what happens if the Jets beat the Caps on Tuesday!

It will be huge for Winnipeg if they can beat Washington in regulation.

There are a lot of games with playoff implications being played tonight. Jets/Capitals and the Bruins, Canadiens, Islanders and Rangers are all playing. Will be an interesting night, for sure.

After tonight's games, here are the updated approximate odds of each team finishing at the specific seeds in the Eastern Conference:

(1) Penguins = 100%
(2) Bruins = 62% Canadiens = 33% Maple Leafs = 5%
(3) Capitals = 100%
(4) Canadiens = 47% Bruins = 33% Maple Leafs = 20%
(5) Maple Leafs = 62% Canadiens = 20% Islanders = 8% Bruins = 5% Senators = 4% Rangers = 1%
(6) Islanders = 44% Senators = 29% Rangers = 18% Maple Leafs = 9%
(7) Senators = 33% Rangers = 32% Islanders = 30% Maple Leafs = 3% Jets = 2%
(8) Rangers = 37% Senators = 30% Islanders = 18% Jets = 14% Maple Leafs = 1%

The most interesting seed at this point is the #7 seed. The Senators, Rangers and Islanders all have a 30% or greater chance of finishing at #7.

Could the Bruins meet Montreal in first round?

Seems hard to believe but Toronto can win the division and the #2 seed

The Leafs actually have a shot to win division - That would put Boston and Montreal at 4 and 5. Islanders and Ottawa can't catch up.

Option 2 is quite possible

TORONTO WINS NORTHEAST DIVISION (No. 2 seed in conference)
Scenario 1: Toronto win their three remaining games: Tampa (tonight), Florida (Thursday) and Montreal (Saturday); Montreal loses its last two games: Winnipeg (Thursday) and Toronto (Saturday). Boston loses its last three games: Tampa (Thursday), Washington (Saturday), Ottawa (Monday). Toronto finishes with 61 points and wins its first division crown since 2000.

Scenario 2: Torono wins their three remaining games. Montreal loses its two games and Boston wins just one of its three games. The Leafs and the Bruins would each have 61 points but Toronto would win the division based on the first tiebreaker. Deadlocks are decided by ROWs (regulation or overtime wins). The Leafs would have 28 ROWs and the Bruins would have 24.

Scenario 3: The Leafs win two of three remaining games and Montreal loses its two games while Boston loses all three of its remaining games. All three teams would have 59 points. The Leafs would have 27 ROWs while Montreal would have 24 and Boston 23.

I doubt it happens but admit I would find some humor in it. Bruins and Habs are both crapping all over the ice right now.

One thing in our favor is the Washington games means nothing to the Caps now.

Tampa SHOULD be a win - The Ottawa game could still decide who the Sens face.

It's so close on how bad they are both playing its hard to decide who's been worse haha, ironic as ****.

EDIT: I never wish for anyone to get injured but it's comical how Lucic has blown all year, yet he shoves Emelin when he ran after him and Emelin injure shis knee badly and MTL's psyche snapped since then.

Yeah. I got to wonder TCL if there are polls on other boards that the Bruins and habs are leading in as wish lists for first round opponents.

I mean, problably. Would you even say you'd *want* to play the Islanders right now(not as silly as this sentence use to sound.) Lol I don't, I doubt we'd look like the hungrier team.

Oh my....I hope we don't get the scabs in the first round. That would be scary for any team in the east except maybe the Leafs. They seem to have their number big time. To beat the scabbers in the playoffs.....any round....you really have to be twice as good as they are.

They always dig deep into their bag of tricks this time of year. Look for their powerplay (their only play really) often at playoff time. Their playoff record is proof positive that the best team doesn't always win....especially when the best team plays them. They've had a lot of great teams over the years, but also some not so great teams that have often won when they didn't come close to deserving it.

I hope we do and we end the Habs miracle season early.

I'm sick of hearing about their Cinderella story.

not sure about first but they'd destroy them rounds 2-4. Montreal historically is very good in the first but the constant battering and injuries take their toll. Right now Montreal makes the Bruins look like the 1972 Bruins so I think we handle them in the first or otherwise- but if it ends up Boston-Montreal in second round or third its Bruins.

that would suck. habs have found their anti-bruins kryptonite this season. and quite honestly the B's are struggling against just about everyone. do not want to face the habs of all teams in round 1.
