Put a more physical guy like a Ladd, or Kane with those two and you could have a great line.
Lets hope nobody says NO

Ryan O'Reilly
Hall
Stamkos
Jordan Eberle
J Staal
E Staal

Brayden Schenn
Wayne Simmonds
Kane
Ladd
Jamie Benn
Travis Zajac

Maybe if the above say no:
Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau
Adam Henrique
Cody Hodgson
Tyler Ennis
Jonathan Huberdeau
Mike Cammalleri

Defense Assuming they say yes: Coburn is hurt

Shea Weber
Luke Schenn
Brendan Smith - i never saw him play, heard good things - anyone?
Mark Giordano ???

Maybe: i really cant think of anyone else

Erik Gudbranson Is he fast enough ?

Any news as to Weber? The calls are being made as soon as teams are being eliminated from PO contention as everything has to be decided by this weekend; the team departs a week from today.

Surprised more people aren't saying this. He's probably the next "young guy" that deserves to go after Justin Schultz, IMO. Excellent young player that's already reliable and confident in all zones on a Colorado D that just bleeds chances. I think I'd like him over Smith, Gudbranson, Brodie. Suspect it will all be moot by the time the 1st round is over though. Schultz should be on this team regardless, IMO. He is getting really tired at the end of the season right now because the coaching staff had to lean on him WAY too much but he should be good to go in this tournament playing way less minutes than he normally does.

In a few days we'll know the full roster. I think we should be worried about Team Canada in general. It's no secret the Europeans are better than us on Big Ice - it's their "Bread and Butter".

Canada was 7th last time on Big Ice in the Olympics, have lost 3 times straight in the World's Quarterfinals. Big Ice is a "different Game" as Yzerman said, I think we might be able to get in the finals, but it's going to be tough.

My friend (no joke) see's Giroux all the time at the clubs in the Summer - he likes his time off and is a lock. might come when he gets a little older. Weber played in 2007 and got his Gold, and again in 2009, so he might come back

i have been counting Winnipeg and Detroit out....but im looking at the standings and they are both only 1 point away...

with 2 - 3 games left its going to be tight...its anyone's game

If 1 of the following teams don't make it, we get the following
Ottawa :we get Marc Methot
Washington : we get Mike Green, Karl Alzner
New York Rangers : we get Michael Del Zotto , Dan Girardi

I hope the rangers don't make it...leaving more Canadian teams in the playoffs...that should tighten bettman's thong around his little nuts..

In this instance, E. Staal would be a better 2nd line center than 1.st line LW And Cam Ward has been injured and on the IR for two months already. S Doan??? Not in Europe...come on....and E Kane on the 4th.line and out of position? Not to be over critical, but that's the same thinking of the idiot junior coach putting Mackinnon on the 4th.line. Don't put players in positions where they are unable to adapt. I like Kane, great skater on the wing, great shot, a power forward in the making...but in all honesty, he's doesn't think the game very well...so, put him in a position where he can succeed. (not sure if you are aware or not, but Kane was a washout in the KHL during the lockout.) So, my take, if you stick this guy on the 4th line playing around 10 minutes a game, he'll be pretty ineffective in that role. Simmonds is a better candidate for 4th.line winger.

Here's my roster...D-corp still needs some thought...but if the Rangers don't make it, I'm adding MDZ and Girardi on D. and Nash Richards (has been red hot of late) and Brassard maybe...although not sold on him entirely as of yet.

T HALL S STAMKOS C GIROUX
E KANE E STAAL B LITTLE
J BENNM DUCHENE J EBERLE
A LADD R O’REILLY W SIMMONDS

C HODGSON

T DALEY S WEBER
B CAMPBELL K KLEIN
G CLITSOME M WEAVER
M GIORDANO

T.J BRODIE J SCHULTZ B SMITH (If we need to take 8, then one of those 3...all young, all excellent skaters.)

M SMITH
D DYBNYK

Canada's WC team should be able to score. Sources say Stamkos, Giroux, Hall, Eberle and Staal brothers are amongst those going.

Is this guy reliable at all? We've already heard about Stamkos, and Hall/Eberle is pretty much a given.

I did it to keep his team together in hopes of them having some chemistry.

So Kane, a power forward, will be ineffective in a power forward's role, but Wayne Simmonds should play there instead?

I'm not a Nash fan: The guy's got no heart.

He's more fitted for a 4th line role than is Kane. Nothing about Simmonds screams powerforward. I don't get where you think he's a prototypical powerforward in the mold of Kane. If anything he to me he screams 3rd line NHLer and on any variation of a national team, 4th line is the best spot for him...

And I get you are not a fan of Nash, which is fair, but lay off the lack of heart nonsense.

Getting Giroux would be huge. Even in this "off" season for him he's over a PPG.

If Weber doesn't make it any word on who the captain will be? I'd assume Ladd, Stamkos, Giroux and E. Staal are the frontrunners.

Yes I would say he is. He is a prime time radio host/reporter here in Edmonton. Ryan Rishaug confirmed the Oiler picks a little while ago as well.

So how has Canada managed to win 5 Gold in the last 20 years?
