What are the chances that...

What are the chances that a team makes a trade to draft BOTH MacKinnon and Drouin?

Their chemistry together in the Q is ridiculous and they would be a force of a duo in the NHL for years to come.

Could it happen? If a team like Florida could make a trade somehow with Tampa Bay or Colorado, I think it could change the franchise.

FLA could by using Kulikov+ to Avs.

but then they wouldn't have Kulikov, they wouldn't be taking jones, and suddenly their depth has gone upside down from D strong to D weak.

i dont see any other teams being able/wanting to.

COL needs D, CGY needs depth, EDM need D, TB needs D/depth.

Carolina maybe? doubt they have the chips.

Nashville would sure like to, again doubt they have the chips.

It's been brought up before and the team that could've done it was Columbus but that seems like it's out the window to say the least. Tough to say that a team would give up a top 3 pick. Interesting to see what return it could yield.

With that being said, it'd be awesome to have happen. Obviously have great chemistry on the ice and best friends off the ice.

2 videos that I found of the Moose radio announcer going on a ride to practice with the two. Just kind of neat to see how good of friends they are and I'm sure that really helps on the ice:

ya.. Assuming Florida drafts first or second, they're defintely taking one of them, so the Pantehrs would likely need to trade Huberdeau + to get the other, because, what the hell else does Florida have that another GM would consider giving up one of those two for. Seems kind of counter productive.

Edm wins lottery gets first pick.

Gagner + Paarjarvi + Klefbom + 2 seconds for 2nd overall pick

Edmonton drafts Mackinnon and Drouin.

TOP 6

Hall - RNH - Eberle
Drouin - Mackinnon - Yakupov

Rest of Lineup

That is a scenario that could work. Florida drafts Mackinnon, Col picks Jones, Florida trades Huberdeau to Tampa for pick #3 and picks Drouin. Florida gets 2 new players to help jersey sales after selling all of the Huberdeau ones this year

And they'd still lose most games by a score of 6-5

Severe undervaluing of a top 3 pick in this thread.

Why does Tampa need Huberdeau? We need Jones.

You need everything. Except for giant goalies, you have that covered.

Maybe take a look at stats and prospects ???? We only need a #2 defender and maybe another top4 and a full training camp under Cooper.

That may be as close to winning as we'll ever get.

Remember that Wacky Wang and Silly Snow offered up their picks in ALL SEVEN ROUNDS to Columbus for their 2nd overall pick to try to draft Ryan Murray - Howsen just laughed and said.."ummm...no"

The Isles picked 4th last year so they essentially offered up picks high picks in rounds 2 through 7 to move up 2 spots.....and Howsen said "no"

Agreed, not a chance in Hell the Avs would move there Top 3 pick for Kulikov+, unless the + was something extremely significant.

And that EDM proposal was a joke. You don't get a #2 pick without giving up at the very least Eberle + another 1st.

Who ever hires Burke has a decent chance of accomplishing that.

I've seen some great duos or players that work well in junior, but none like Nate and Jo... It almost seems like it would be unnatural/not allowed to make them play on different teams lol. They feed off each other and create success together, not to mention living together....

Calgary and CBJ have 3 1sts, so everyone will look at them to make this kind of a deal if there's one to be had.. If not, I can't see a team tradfing up if they only have one 1st this year, because the + will have to be massive for a top-3 selection.
