It would only be good if it were FF7.

Maybe I missed a post since, but wasn't your position yesterday that having FF up was a bad thing, not the rest of the AHL kids? I distinctly remember you implying the Sedins would eat him alive, which still baffles me.

I'm not sure what posting a link to a blog about AHL players being sent back down has to do with Filip Forsberg or your opposition to him being on the big club. Unless, of course, FF himself had been sent down, which he was not.

The position all along has been that this season is over, and having FF up where he can be viewed against NHL talent to see what skills he actually does have and how honed those skills is a good thing. How that is "homeristic" I do not know, though I am growing weary of the constant labeling of those who hold opposing opinions. And that isn't just a remark about your homeristic comment since you are not the only one who labels folks.

It's a good thing no ones actually proposing it and we're joking around then.

How young are we talking? I'm 27, and I remember all the Final Fantasy crap, but never got into it. I know no characters, themes, etc. I wouldn't assume it's a young person thing as much as a game nerd thing (not trying to use that as a pejorative, btw - I like my vidja games as well).

What if every time Forsberg scored they played the Final Fantasy victory theme?

The more I think about it, the more I'm warming up to the idea of calling him Vivi.

I'm glad someone got the joke

I'm not a gamer and I never really liked RPGs after Zelda, but when I was a kid I loved FF7. Three discs. Way too many hours to count. I beat that game twice, and both times I was disappointed when Aerith died. I mean, great story telling, but still... why do the good people have to always die?

Why not? Not like the Preds are playing 'hockey' during a hockey game.

So what's the deal with FFs ELC? If he plays 6 games it burns a year of it, if he plays 5 it does not?

Will he sit a game?

Yes if he plays 6 games he burns a year. So I do see him being benched for a game. I see it probably as next week against Detroit as we should have some people back by then.

The victory theme is sort of a pop culture thing though. I think many people have heard it but may not know where it's from.

Thanks to you, I just downloaded it from the PSN store to my PS3. I will get nothing done the next few days.

Back to hockey and the question about FF's ELC.

If he plays less than 5 games up, he won't burn his ELC this year, but he becomes ineligible to play in the NHL and then go back to the Ads next year while still keeping his 3 year ELC - i.e. that 10 game "try out" period that teams use for thier kids at the beginning of the year. So, FF won't burn his ELC for these games, but he's pretty much going to be on the big team next year, because the ELC will start next year.

At least that's the way it was explained to me.

I think you are misinformed. The 10 game "trial" period is what he's doing now(except this year its 5 not ten)... but that trial period wouldnt stop him from going back to the Ads next year, but it would stop him from playing a few games here then going back to juniors and not starting his ELC next year.

But I think its pretty obvious he will either be here or Milwaukee next year and in that case his ELC starts regardless of whether he plays zero, one or 82 games with the Preds

I would agree that FF will be playing pro hockey in NA next year, and I'll be shocked if he doesn't make it to the big club. It would either mean Poile made a move or two to strengthen the forwards, or FF regressed and looked bad at camp. I don't foresee either thing happening, to be honest.

I was watching that play specifically because I was looking for Forsberg and I saw it developing and was hoping he would score... he made the play happen by hustling and carrying the puck into the zone before Calgarys defense could get set up.. exactly the thing we have needed a lot more of

I think this kid is going to be a fan favorite. In his post-game interview on Tuesday, he came off as (a) articulate and (b) pretty humble. Those two will make him a frequent interview choice. When asked about the narrow ice, he very honestly said that is was a huge challenge; he thinks he's getting better each game, but it's very different from what he's used to. D-men are right on you on the boards, and whenever he wants to shoot, there's always somebody in the way! Plus commented on the speed of the game.
