You're close but I'm 83. Welcome to the octogenarian club. You and I have witnessed most of the Hab championships.

Just kidding, I'm 21. I'm jealous, I started watching the Habs around the Eric Weinrich era. No championships for me.

Do a poll to see how high of hockey level they played or are just armchair experts

50 here. Would have to say that the purge of the cup winning players of 92 destroyed us, and is still haunting. I lost faith when we traded Muller

Doesn't mean anything......at all. Hockey players are soldiers who do as they are told. Many of them never do grasp the bigger picture from a stategic perspective as we have seen and heard from countless ex-players.

You missed the Richard bothers, Béliveau, Plante, Harvey, Geoffrion, et al. On the other hand, you haven't yet experienced the infirmities of old age. I'm a spry octogenarian but I'm no longer the fastest on the tennis court. One (slight) compensation is that I've finally learned to hit a clean topspin backhand. I hope to develop a more effective serve when I go on vacation in November because there won't be any contemporaries for me to take advantage of.

Maurice Richard remains my all time hockey hero but the greatest player I ever saw was Bobby Orr.

I've read some of your background and - not that you need my confirmation - you've had a very impressive resume of life experiences. But even more impressive than your past is the ability to stay active and healthy in the present into your 80s. You also get bonus points for fencing with 20-year-olds on a message board. You mentioned tennis - my wife's step-father remains a major tennis buff at 75; it's the only thing keeping him from total arterial blockage, considering his eastern European diet of fat-fried fat. Like you, he still aims to keep improving until either his arm or his heart burn out. He's on the courts in Montreal, Stowe and Florida, depending on the season. Wonder if you know him (which would mean I might know you). He's no hockey fan, but he's one of the most interesting people I know; you're probably no slouch yourself.

Forgot to add my own two-cents...

I'm 51. Jumped onto the bandwagon just as Beliveau was getting ready to jump off. I remember watching on a small black-and-white TV alone in my uncle's room when Beliveau scored his 500th goal. I cheered, my family was chatting elsewhere, nobody cared but me. I have no idea what or who triggered the passion for the game.

I remember nine Stanley Cups. It's made me more relaxed about this long drought, but still... it would be amazing to be there again.

I think you automatically win any debate on here by default.

But for what it's worth, I learned a clean topspin backhand in my teens. Too bad my tennis game stopped developing after that.

So you're really 83 ? It means you were a teen during WW II and saw all those great Habs dynasties ? That's pretty awesome. Well not that WW II was a great thing but to have been alive when it happened must have been something.

And to think that at 32 i'm thinking that i have some experience. **** i'm just a complete noob

My respects sir
