Nope, not really.

If Hakanpaa plays, things are pretty dire on the defense.

I think it is more a matter of getting him some NHL exposure. It lets him know that we have him in our NHL-level plans, it shows him the kind of commitment and training he needs to have in the off-season, and it gives him a little bit of familiarity with the team/staff/facilities so that next training camp it isn't all new to him.

I'd give Leopold, Jackman, and Pietrangelo nights off come Thursday. Run with a defense like this;

Bouwmeester-Shattenkirk
Russell-Polak
Cole-Hakanpaa

Get beat? Thats alright, as long as we stay ahead of Columbus and Minnesota, stay below LA and San Jose, I'm fine with that.

I think resting in preparation for the playoffs is completely useless considering the actual playoffs won't start till at least 3 or 4 days after the season ends. The players can rest then..

Dumb? Probably, at least the line up. Resting Jackman, probably not. Pietro just looks gassed so I wouldn't argue that at all.

Realistically. If you rest Jackman and Pie, you go into it with a line up like 19-22, 4-46, 33-28. It's already said Jackman will be having the game off. I think resting Pietrangelo wouldn't hurt.

Leave me to my fantasies why don't ya!

The only way you would see Hakanpaa is if the Defensive depth chart is obliterated with injuries.

However much we as fans don't want to see LA in the first round, I'm sure the team still has the #4 seed in their sights. If we lose tonight vs the Flames though, finishing 4th will no longer be possible due to SJ playing in LA on Saturday. In that scenario, there would be little incentive beyond pride (especially vs the Hawks, hmm) to win our last game, and I could see Hitch sitting his two most banged up d-men and playing Russell and Cole. Possibly even a guy like Hakanpaa for a 3rd d-man if enough guys are dinged-up/tired. Forwards too, possibly we could see Nichol and Jaskin, am I forgetting anyone else who's been with the team but sitting?

Murray is currently with the team also. I could see Backes getting some rest along with McDonald. No idea of where Oshie is as far as returning goes. Also would like to see Halak get a start if possible.

McDonald, Backes, Pie, Jackman, and Shatty or Leopold could all us a game off.

Yeah, Backes has really been busting his hump the last month or so and of course McDonald is getting old and kinda fragile.

BTW, can anybody tell me how "Hakanator" have played there across the pond? Do you guys see any potential about him? How is his skating, is he enough fast in AHL? Hakanpää is one of my favorite prospect, very big boy with good tools, but still very raw.
