Eh.
Who knows.
Man, I ain't even mad right now.
Given the talent level of the team and the situation at the deadline, i'm kinda stoked they've even made it this far.
They played a pretty disciplined game and put out a solid effort.

HEH.
Looking at the recap of last season's game against the Sharks, guess what I found.
First sentence of the recap; "DALLAS With their playoff destiny in their own hands, the Stars lost their grip."
How fitting.

If it wasnt for Nashville being in such tank mode, id still be confident of winning both games and getting in.

I think LA will beat detroit tomorrow (kings need to win out to get the 4 seed)

But I cant see nashville beating columbus to allow us to sneak in

Man.
What a 180 from TD, though.
The "future" looks so much brighter.

Something that caught my eye looking at stats was fighting this season.
The Stars are actually in 11th, a fight or two above the average; 4 short of last years total.
Kinda nice to see.
They were either dead last or very close last year if I remember right.

Yes I do. Until any of those games happen we currently have a 9% shot. (4.5% now)

With that %, imagine how much higher it goes if you assume Dallas wins both. Then it probably 25% +. We may as well think about the % if Dallas wins both because if they don't win both % chances are 0%.

We literally can't finish 7th so Minnesota is ahead of us at 53.

Most points we can get is 52.

Detroit plays LA tonight. That to me is the gauge for our chances. If Detroit picks up a point tonight we're done.

If you guys are honestly banking on the Blue Jackets & Detroit losing to Nashville in their must win survival games then go ahead. But I'm not ready to delve into such lunacy.

I just hope we can throw the Jackets game and then beat the wings, because spite is all I have left.

If both teams get moved to the Eastern conference a few months early then we might make the playoffs.

To me, trading Daley does not make sense. Have I been slightly disappointed with his play this year? Yes. I thought he made real progress last season and he hasn't followed up on that.

That said, he's a better player than Robidas and Goligoski. If the question is which veteran to move out, those should be the first 2 options. There would be interest around the league in both players. Furthermore, Daley's contract is quite nice. It's similar to Eriksson's in how it gives the team excellent cost certainty and value at an affordable price.

I also think that Daley-Dillon would be a better pair than either Robidas-Dillon or Goligoski-Dillon -- it just hasn't been given a chance to happen due to the mismatched amalgam of D we have.

This is OT, but I feel like if we're moving Daley we can get a real blue chip prospect back. Every offseason we hear about how expensive the price for a top 4 D-man is. Daley is signed for a long time and is a solid #3-4 D-men that every team looks for in the offseason.
I'd agree with Piqued though, this team needs more players like Daley, not less. Moving him doesn't make sense at all.

Daley is a okay. He's not great. There is plenty of change that needs to happen on the blueline. I don't think Daley needs to be one of the first ones run out of town, but if a GM is willing to give up something stupid, then I have no problem with it. I am a fan of the way Daley plays, but he is replaceable.

Ideally, only Dillon and Goligoski deserve to survive a reshuffling of the defense if we are to improve the whole group. Even Goligoski's spot should be in jeopardy if they can find other d-men with real offensive ability who actually can do something in their own end as well. Right Goligoski's spot is saved because he's the only d-man on the roster who should ever see PP time. I am hopeful at least one of the kids in the AHL have the ability to step up and help the PP.

I think the bold part pretty much sums it up. Daley isn't the greatest but there are others that need to be moved before him. I'm surprised Daley has never been considered for an 'A'. The guy always stands up for his teammates, rarely takes dumb penalties, and is one of the older guys on the team.

I'm a big fan of Daley. He isn't Zubov but you're not going to be able to replace him with anyone better in this market. I've been saying that for years.

It would have to be homegrown, but we will probably have a decent replacement in the next 2-3 years.

Is it me, or did this team play better in front of Bachman this month?

Ever since Kari came back, they've been on this tumble from grace, going from one of the hottest teams post-deadline, to one that's staggering backwards across the finish line.

I'm all for flipping first with Edmonton. Yakupov probably isn't what this team needs but he'd be the most talented winger on the club. Yes that includes Loui, who has a better overall game but not near as much pure talent.

As for top six centers, if some team has a young one for sale please direct me to their name. Perhaps you could make a deal with Buffalo, they've got a few centers and can use a winger or two.

Otherwise you've probably got to trade up to get Monahan and hope a guy like Compher is there with Boston's pick and I'm not sure you can keep Boston's pick if it's a 1st rounder if you move up.

I'd also like to point out that, right now, the Jackets, Wings and Stars are all tied at 22 wins through 46 games. Wings and Stars with 20 ROW's each.

Loser points are all that separates these three teams; essentially, they're all 22-24.

Dallas's inability to get sufficiently rewarded for losing, appears to be their downfall right now.

Sucks.

What on earth makes you think we're set at the wing position?

I said it before but I'll keep on saying it. This team has some good pieces but is far from "set" at any position. We need impact players at virtually every position.

That being said Hall would cost the most and scares me the most due to his reckless style.
