Question for Sharks fans

Leaf Fan here. I just wanted to know how you all feel about Pavelski moving forward. Do you see him in SJ long term or do you think it's time to move him etc. The reason I ask is because I would love for the Leafs to grab a guy like Pavelski, if available in the off-season and would like to know what Shark fans think would be a fair price for Pavelski(from the Leafs).

Thanks in advance.

He is playing 3C right now because we are very deep at center. He is an elite 2way 2nd line center so I would want a top 2 defenseman so we can keep Burns at forward or a young good forward like JVR and a 2nd/3rd.

I see it as a Hodgson type situation, just on a player who is more proven.

We are very deep at center right now; however, depending what the future holds for Thornton, the situation could be very different in 2 years.

I don't see the Sharks dealing Pavelski, we need to get younger and dealing him would only hurt us in that regard.

Hes only 3c for line up purposes. He still plays huge minutes and is one of the most reliable forwards in the o-zone and d-zone.

I don't think he is untouchable by any stretch, but at the same time I doubt they are looking at moving him. One of those situations where for the right price they may move him but certainly not a guy on the block.

Personally, I'd want a top 6 winger back and a good young d-man (NHL experience a plus but not required). That asking price may be a bit high though.

I'd also prefer to move Thornton, and roll with Couture and Pavelski as the #1 and #2 centers but I don't see that happening.

You'd be better off shooting an email over to Doug Wilson than posting here and asking us. But, I agree with the person above in that I would rather see Thornton (and Marleau) traded before Couture and Pavelski.

Today's NHL is not about getting the best players, but about getting the right mix of players within the salary cap. So it is possible that Doug Wilson will move Couture or Pavelski this offseason due to the cap, but I would be surprised at this point if that happens.

MLN needs to learn this lesson from the NHL.

I don't have a Thornton or Marleau jersey either.

This. I'll take JVR and a 2nd for him.

However, I'm pretty sure Pavelski will sign an extension sometime next year for somewhere around 4 years, $19 million and a NMC.

Don't want JVR, don't want to trade Pavelski. If we're trading Pavelski, I want it to be in a package with Demers and maybe another piece for a young, number one NHL defenseman. The only guys on that list in my eyes are Pietrangelo, Doughty, Subban, Karlsson, Weber, Suter, and maybe Yandle. I may have forgotten a few, but those are the only types of payers I'd trade Pavs for. And since they're all untouchable, Pavelski is not being traded.

Thornton, however, I'm willing to trade.

Would much rather trade Thornton.

Wow, didn't see I had already typed that I'd rather trade JT. Got distracted. Oops.

Anyway, even though Pavelski is 3C in the lineup, he is 2nd in Sharks forwards in TOI/G with about 19 minutes. He's very, very important to this team and he's not being traded for anything short of a really, really good player or a giant overpayment.

Rather trade Thornton or Marleau or both than Pavelski, unless he intimates that he's not interested in re-signing here. I'd rather overpay Pavelski than trade him.
