I agree but that's not how FO's look at it. To them you're not out of it until they officially tell you so.

I also think the Clowe scenario was more of a move for next season, not this season (hence the wanting him signed).

I'm glad they didn't trade for Clowe. A few years ago, I was hoping they were going to move Hartnell for Clowe (that was one of the rumours coming out of the draft), but they did the Pronger trade instead.

As for this year, I'm hoping that it's Nurse or Ristolainen in the first and hopefully someone like William Carrier will be around in the second (a big, burly and mean forward that was hobbled by a high ankle sprain this year). Those would be some great choices to replenish the system.

I am really just hoping Nurse falls to us or we make a move to get him. He seems like he has all the potential in the world. Flyers would just need to groom him the right way, which I actually think they will.

I thought there was a rumored deal involving Gagne for Clowe as the main pieces a few years ago?

Interesting. One thing about Brayden is how strong he is in his lower body. Once his core catches up to the rest of his body watch out.

I hope either trade for the #1 overall and get jones, or get nurse if he falls to us or if we trade up for him if the price for #1 overall is too high

It's almost a guarantee we will not move up to the #1. I don't think the price is as high as people have stated around here or on the boards, but still steep. I won't try to pin point what the price would be either, but I rather just use a 3rd rounder from this year and move up say 1 or 2 spots.

The #1 rarely gets traded, and the team most likely to pick there this year need it. Florida and Colorado are two teams in need for some elite talent. One at forward and one desperately needing it on defense.

The Flyers have a crush on Nurse, and I like him to. But I hope they stay the course and pick the BPA. There is just to much talent to give up players and or picks to move up a few spots in this draft.

I would not trade up. I saw this list and thought I would share it. Since 2008, here are the D-men drafted in the top 10(excluded last year as it's too early to see impact yet). I'm sure we would all be happy if we walk away from this draft with a player like these(minus McIlrath):
Doughty
Bogosian
Pietrangelo
Schenn
Hedman
Ekman-Larsson
Cowen
Gudbranson
McIlrath
Larsson
Hamilton
Brodin

I don't know about other fans. I agree though that casual fans wouldn't be going to the draft anyway and im sure a lot of serious fans will want to see it regardless, but I have a lot of friends who are serious fans who have said they would have no interest in going if we don't have a 1st.
We all know Homer would make a trade at the draft so we could have a pick anyways.

Say the draft goes down like this....

1. Flo - Mac
2. Col - Jones
3. Tbl - Drouin
4. Nsh - Barkov
5. Car - Nichushkin
6. Edm - Nurse
7. Cgy - Monahan/Lindholm
8. Phi - ????

Do you take the center (whichever is left of Monahan or Lindholm) or do you take whichever you like better of Ristolainen, Zadorov, or Pulock?

If Phoenix offered Gormley for that pick (essentially you decide on Gormley over Risto, Zado, or Pulock) would you consider that offer?

I don't think so. Honestly though, I think we'd take Rist.

If we win this game, we will move from the 8th pick to the 10th pick.....

Nope, I rather either trade down a few spots or take Zadorov/Risto there. Gormley alone is not worth the 8th overall.

And if we had picked 1 higher in 2006 we'd be watching Bobby Sanguinetti tonight instead of Claude Giroux. People need to stop worrying about dropping a couple places, it's not necessarily the end of the world.

Would rather have Lindholm or Ristolainen.

General consensus is Rasmus Ristolainen > Brandon Gormley, then?

He's our flavor of the week.

I think Ristolainen may have a slightly higher upside, particularly on the offensive end. That might be why some prefer him.

I also like how Rist has a snarl to him as well.

Welp, the Risto consensus was nice while it lasted.

Zadorov vs. Domi vs. Shinkaruk vs. Mantha.

New Jersey with the win over Pittsburgh, so we only lost one spot with that win.
