I agree, but you need a hub with mass transit and a constant walking population.... where on LI are you thinking about?

Restaurant Rec!?

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could recommend me a quality restaurant with the following characteristics:

1 - Will most likely be showing the Rangers game on at least one screen.
2 - Has delicious food & is a real sit down place, not just a sports bar.
3 - Preferably on the Lower East Side, but anywhere in midtown is acceptable.

Please & Thank you!! I'm stuck going out to dinner with the girlfriend & her friends (committed to tonight months ago...) & I'm trying desperately to find a place they would enjoy where I'll also be able to watch some of the game

If only a place like that existed in NYC... I've tried a bunch of times to find good food (other than pub food) and the game at the same time, it never works out well

If I think of any places though, I'll let you know. It's espcially tough to find places that show the game in a trendy neighborhood like the LES. Unless you mean the East Village, whenever anyone I know asks for a recommendation on the Lower East Side, it always turns out that they actually meant the East Village

I don't know what you'd call "delicious" food but I don't know one restaurant with what I'd call quality food that has a TV that you can see from every table. Some have TV's near the bar that you might be able to sit near but not guaranteed.

There's a Mexican spot in the UES that shows hockey games, not sure how good the food is though.

Hey guys,

My little brother is travelling to NY next week and he wants to bring me some Rangers stuff (fleece sweater, cap etc.).

He is staying in Manhattan so anything close to MSG or Times Square will do. Do you guys have any suggestions where he can go? When I search for NY Rangers shops, I can only find online shops. It would be best if there's a shop with a wider variety of stuff to choose from.

Thanks in advance!!

Cosbys on 31st between 7th and 6th, Modells on 42nd between 7th and 8th, and the NHL Store on the corner of 47th and 6th all have the most Rangers apparel in the city.

I'll try again. Heading out of the city soon, with no Internet at home

Honestly, best bet is some place like Applebee's if it's not busy.

Hello New Yorkers (spelling?)
Is the bar/restaurant "Rue57" the one that is owned by Hank and Avery?

Howdy all. Canucks fan, but going to be in New York for game 3, and my wife and I thought it would be fun to be Rangers fans for a night, and take in a game at the Flying Puck.

How big is this place? What time would we have to arrive to get a seat? Do they do reservations? (no mention of it on their web page).

We're staying a few blocks east, is there any other places we should check out instead? FP seems well liked here.

It's a pretty small place, considering the area and the usual turnout.

I'd probably suggest 6:15 if you want to guarantee a table, might be able to swing bar seats a little later (doubt it though). Usually during big games its SRO 15 min before gametime. Pretty sure they don't take reservations.

2nd best option would probably be Stout - http://www.stoutnyc.com/menu.html

Rangers usually announce some fan parties prior, so keep an eye out for that.

The NHL Store is basically the catalog on shop.nhl.com If you want Rangers stuff, especially a jersey, Cosby's is much better.

There are a bunch of bars near Flying Puck. Mustang Harry's, Mustang Sally's, and Triple Crown. My fave is Triple Crown, although I have never stayed to watch a game. A good hockey bar in NYC is Van Diemen's. Over on 2nd Ave, in the High 20's. Maybe 27th st. They will have the Rangers game on, most likely with the sound and every other game on, as well. Just a warning, they have Poutine on the menu, likely to try to make themselves seem Canadian. However, the Poutine is not very good.

I don't know where to post this question since it's off topic so I'll post it here. Anyone know of any good boards like HF for soccer? Either for EPL or La Liga in English.
