Well, it looks like were not getting any help from the lottery-bound Avs. We need to win tonight in order to keep pace with the Blues.

If we want to keep the 5th seed that is. Not a lot of us want it.

Edit: But the Wild are helping us by leading the Kings after 2.

I know the Sharks control their own destiny for the 4 seed, but this Kings/Red Wings game is huge. If the Kings win, the Sharks probably face them in the first round, which I do not want at all. If the Red Wings win, they're probably in the playoffs, which I also do not want. Hmmm...

Like many other NHL fans I've been rooting for Columbus to make it - their fans really deserve it ( and I think they could ride a hot goalie to a first round upset with a bit of luck ). Detroit missing the playoffs would be a nice bonus too. I don't really care between a 5th and 6th finish for the Sharks - it's unlikely the difference would make any difference in home ice, and probably only affects the first round matchup. I don't think it's at all clear whether LA or VAN is more dangerous.

All that said, pulling for LA feels wrong. It's making hard to enjoy watching the game.

3-1 with 5 minutes left and Detroit has a 5-on-3 PP. I'm not saying it's over, but it's over.

They can win today, but that still leaves Detroit with 2 games that we hope they lose in and Columbus with 2 games that we hope they win in(they both finish off with Dallas(both in Dallas) and Nashville(both at home)).

Either way it should be interesting that the Sharks and the Kings could be battling for home ice in the final game of the season, depending on St. Louis.

I still LOL every time they play Don't Stop Believin' in Detroit and the fans there get SO excited when they mention South Detroit in the song, even though a 5 year old could tell you that the song is about getting the hell out of Detroit.

Isn't Journey from the Bay Area as well? That annoyed me during the playoff series a few years ago.

Detroit now has the ROW tiebreaker over Columbus as well. I hope they get 8th and the Wild get 7th.

I guess we have to root for Calgary to beat the Blues tomorrow night. The Sharks could be as high as 4th and as low as 7th.

That's what I thought. The "born and raised in South Detroit" part makes no sense against a team from the Bay Area. Plus, like you and Jux said that the person is trying to leave Detroit... silly Detroitians (or whatever they're called).

Assuming the Sharks dont get a point vs Phoenix, the Blues have to lose in regulation in 1 of their last 2 games for the Sharks to get 4th.

Yeah, he took Skinner's spot on Eric Staal's wing when Skinner went down with a concussion. They got some crazy chemistry pretty much right away. If it wasn't for Ward going down and other injuries the Canes would have had a much better season.
