Gretzky is generally a safe guess too.

Edmonton had a horrible first couple of months after the merger. My guess is he scored in some losses.

Missed the game. Anything else notable besides the Hobbit and Great Dane scoring on assists from B. Schenn?

The game wasn't particularly exciting. Luke Schenn played well and was active. Lauridsen had a good effort, too. Adam Hall won all his draws.

Hall was perfect in the dot? Man, why is Holmgren holding out on resigning this guy? Did Hall's agent insult Holmgren's family?

My guess is they saw/see him as a temporary replacement for Talbot. What happens in the off-season...who knows at this stage.

Certainly the stars aligned to pick up Hall off waivers as a gift-wrapped solution for Talbot being out for the season. But having a second skilled faceoff guy not only makes a huge difference in even-strength and PK puck possession, but it takes pressure off Giroux taking every single important faceoff. Plus, Hall has size and a mean streak. It's just a no-brainer to me.

I agree with how he played. It has been a solid pickup. And I have preached faceoffs efficiency/inefficiency for more than just this season. But with the cap and impending off-season moves, there are other issues that could take a higher priority. And just checked the box, he was 6-for-6.

Talbot isn't very good at faceoffs. Maybe Homer is just waiting to see what happens at the draft and before July 1st

I agree with everything you said. I think it comes down to one of Gagne, Hall, or Fedotanko comes back for next year. IMO I would take Hall over the two of them. You can still slot Hall on the wing on the 4th line during even strength situations and have him play center on the PK. He also be the cheapest of the 3 too. Eventually I would want to take Giroux off the PK and have a good faceoff guy who's defensively responsible to replace him and Hall fits the bill.

Just got home from the game. Not the most exciting game I've seen , but the awards were pretty cool and the fact that they won was nice too...although our draft pick keeps getting worse.

The team seemed to play well but I don't really think the Islanders played their best.

Oh and the defense played really well considering it consisted of 1 starter, 4 AHLers, and Lilja.

well in their defense Gus has now played in 66 NHL games including playoffs

seriously though. i don't consider Gus an AHLer anymore. when he's in the AHL he's an All-Star and in 26 games this season he's averaged 20 minutes a night and overall played very well (especially recently). in my eyes he's made the jump

Even for a team that's finished, if Hall is out defending one-goal leads with Giroux and Voracek, there must be consideration given to re-signing him, especially since it looks like Fedotenko isn't coming back. I'd even argue that given how much Hall would likely make, that it should be priority before Gagne.

Hall is the most obvious Feds replacement, depending on his demands.

Not only Talbot sucks at taking draws, he just isn't a center in my eyes.
Looks like Feds is not happy in general and will look for a bigger role somewhere else.... not offering Hall a contract would be just stupid. It would be a typical Homer swing to let Hall walk and sign another free agent player with half his skill for double money.

So how did Bryz look tonight? Didn't get to see any of the game and didn't see much talk of goalie play earlier in this thread.

made some big saves and almost saved what turned out to be the islanders lone goal with his stick. he was super pumped to get the win at the end of the night.

people say he doesn't care but i really don't believe that.

I think he looked very good. His stick could of been a bit better to save that goal, but considering he holds his stick on his right side and that is where Mason's glove is (not as far of a reach), the goal would of gone in on both goalies.

But yeah, he made some big saves and loved how pumped he was at the end of the game.

The best part of the night was probably the standing ovation the fans gave the players after the game. Even though this was a very disappointing season, everyone still showed their appreciation. That is why Flyer fans are some of the best fans in the sport.

Yeah. At times it was a pretty sloppy affair from both times, yet the crowd was pumped for everything. It was nice to see that spirit for the last home game, regardless of the circumstances.
