The #fancystats have them basically neck-and-neck at 5-on-5 close. OTT = great PK, poor PP. NYI = good PP, poor PK. OTT has better goaltending but Nabokov owns the Caps.

No clear choice. I guess the Isles.

I doubt the odds will agree but I get your point. I'd take my chances with the Islanders and I never know what to make of the Rangers. This Ottawa team has more heart than any of them IMO and with Anderson this team is still very hot goalie-able. While they potted two second chance goals against a somewhat tired Winnipeg team they don't generally generate many second chance even-strength opportunities at all. They haven't had to given the loose team D/goalies they've largely faced but I think the offense/possession game is ripe to be exposed once again. Ottawa seemingly can tilt the ice better than the rest.

Please with this trembling at Ottawa.

They don't scare me. The Caps had nothing to play for and could easily have won if Ribeiro wasn't a headcase.

Bigger fish to fry if they want the Cup and not their 6th flameout.

I'm fine with Ottawa. This was the biggest game of the season for them, while the caps obviously didn't push with too much intensity, and it still went to overtime. Same thing with last weeks game.

Ottawa gets alot of shots but they're low quality and they have trouble finishing. If the reffing is decent tonight, the caps would've won most likely.

What erskine did and what ribs did have nohing to do with each other. One came from a player playing hard and protecting his goalie, and anyway OTT got a coincidental minor.

Ribs was just acting out. Like a spoiled, frustrated child. Punching a guy in the face, with his gloves still on, repeatedly, long after there was any need. Came across as both cowardly AND a penalty.

I think 9 is frustrated lately, with his offensive production having dropped off. I hope oates tells him to shape the F up.

And his OTHER unnecessary penalty late in 3rd period was a Sasha O-zone special. 28 couldnt have done it better himself.

I'd easily take the Isles over the Sens for the 1st round opponent.

Much, much prefer the Sens than the Rangers. They're worse at just about everything. Not that it really matters. If the Caps can't get past a 3-6 first round matchup, they're not getting a whiff of the Cup.

Tonight's game put me in the don't re-sign Ribs camp. NHL version of MeAngelo Hall. Above average skills, below average head.

To be fair, Turris should've gotten a penalty on that scrum, too.

I don't want Ottawa for no other reason than the games with them are mind-numbingly boring.

Edit: The officiating was atrocious. Possibly the worst all year.

MeAngelo Hall. Never heard that one, but it's perfect. And an apt comparison.

At least AO scored tonite and Rat Face didn't.

I can't BELIEVE karlsson is already back from torn achilles. WTF. That certainly makes OTT a less appetizing opponent in 1st round.

Yes he should of. That's why I don't get what people are whining about...

On top of that Alfredsson yaps at the referees for a minute and keeps resisting the linesman trying to put him in the penalty box and the Caps would get a penalty for making eye contact with the referee.

Ill be honest. I liked the thuggery in this game. Yea it cost us but we didnt need the win. I'm confident we would win the series against them.

It is amazing. Players like Adrian Peterson, Karlsson, Griffin (I hope) and that South Carolina RB Lattimore all coming back from significant leg injuries in what seems like unbelievable time. Seems like a quantum leap has been made in the field of sports medicine. Wish a news program like Real Sports would do a show on it. Very curious to find out what developments have been made to get athletes back on the field in record time.

And the Sens played the way the Caps did against Winnipeg. Like a playoff game. The caps played like it was a meaningless game, and it still went to OT. I don't think Anderson's this good either. We could get to him.

Yeah but 61 didnt get called for straight-up punching a guy in the face. And their disallowed goal was pretty borderline interference.

Reffing was erratic, but i don't think it titlted game drastically for OTT. We took care of that ourselves.

Whatever. We're in the playoffs. I didn't think that would happen this year.

This too. If we do face off with them, they will know now they can't push us around. That's what I was thinking at least.

For the record, a "quantum leap" is a very small jump, not a very large one. Like, the smallest possible. /pedantic a-hole alert.

Not sure I'd use whining. I read a bunch of fans, like me, frustrated with a player in Ribs who has developed a negative image with NHL Refs and he does nothing but promote that negative image with his mouth and dumb decisions.

The hooking call on him was BS, but its Ribs. He will never get the benefit of the doubt on a play like that based on his reputation. And over the last 1/3 of this season his bone head decisions have eclipsed any positives he has done.

Sorry. Just a dumb redneck. How about massive leap? Big foot leap? John Erskine sized leap?

May the best team win if Sens and Caps play in round 1, but give credit where it's due... He's #1 in GAA and sv% for a reason.

Officiating was questionable at best in this game, but what else is new?

I don't mean disrespect. Caps are one of my favourite teams not named the Sens. If they do meet up, it should be fun.
