"We could carry three goalies at the start," Ferguson hinted during the Leafs rookie tournament at Ricoh Coliseum. "Certainly it's not unheard of in the National Hockey League. You knock on wood that there won't be an injury that makes the decision for you, but we could end up with three at the start and let things work themselves out."
When talking of a trio, Ferguson was mostly referring to projected No. 1 Andrew Raycroft and last year's season-ending tandem of Jean-Sebastien Aubin and Mikael Tellqvist. But he is not backing off an old promise to let hot prospect Justin Pogge stay at the main camp as long as his performance merits it.
This is a disaster in the making. I'll also add that this doesn't look good PR wise for the Raycroft-Rask trade for them either.
He played well to end the last season, so he deserves a chance to attend training camp this season. This is typical JFJ - keeping his options open and never setting anything in stone.
I'll be shocked if we start the season with three goalies on the big team.
We did this in college, and let me tell you from a Goalie's prospective that this sucks. Its a complete waste of time, you can't get hot, your rythym gets thrown off, and its incredibly frustrating.

From 3/3 to 4/16, Tellqvist was 1-10 for the Leafs with 50 goals against.
What it really means is that the Leafs have three guys but none of them are capable of being the starter. Because if the Leafs had a guy that was capable of being the #1 guy They wouldn't need the two others playing much. This can't be what Leaf fans want to hear.......
Buffalo basically had a trio with Millar, Biron, and Noronen before Millar established himself as the guy. It's a good way to protect yourself when you're not sure yet what you have between the pipes.
Yeah I also live in Leafs Nation. Other than last year, they have been treated to some pretty good goaltending with Cujo and Belfour. It should be fun this year.
"You named your band the Lone Rangers? You can't pluralize Lone Ranger. There's 3 of you, you're not exactly lone."
This is going to bug me -- what is that from?
We can't get too hung up with grammar with Toronto, which uses Leafs as the plural for Leaves.
Seems premature for them to be talking about going into the season with a trio of goalies. I don't think that would be to Raycroft's advantage as he seems like the kind of guy who needs/wants to play most days.
Anyway, reminds me of the Sox brilliant closer by committee fiasco.

I feel bad for TellY he was solid last year and struggled in 2 games the back to back against the Habs, after that Aubin started and kept winning. I expect TellY to beat out Aubin for the backup job.
Either way, the only goalie-by-committee approach that I saw work was Andy Moog and Reggie Lemelin in the late '80s and early '90s with the Bruins. Goaltending-by-committee is never pretty, but all 3 goaltenders have game experience and they have shown they can win.
One could also say the Bruins could go by-committee with Tim Thomas and Hannu Toivonen this season.
I thought it was Airheads, but I wasn't sure, and I didn't wanna say another movie and look like an *** haha. I get wicked bummed out when my movie trivia skills are not up to snuff.

Don't feel bad, the name eluded me too, I cheated and used imdb cause I knew Brendan Fraser was in it haha
