Walter's grade
Justin Pugh, OT/G: C+ Grade

The good news is that Justin Pugh can pretty much play anywhere on the offensive line. The bad news is that Justin Pugh is a reach at No. 19. Itís unlike the Giants to make a pick like this. Itíd be one thing if they were desperate for a left tackle, but they just re-signed William Beatty to a long-term deal. Pugh can play right tackle, and he would probably be an upgrade over David Diehl. Still, there were better options available.

From BBV:

Pugh might actually have been BPA

Trufant went before Rhodes, there was a whisper that Tank failed his physical with the Giants, and it seems GM’s have big questions about Floyd’s production and some character.

Exactly. Not saying he won't be a serviceable to good player.

But seems like a real, real reach.

At the end of the day JR has earned a bit of trust.

I think he should've traded down if he wanted Pugh.

reese said they got calls to move back but it was too far back for the giants to go.

Meh. It's poor value. No matter how you spin it.

Well. At least Pugh is a better pick than when the Eagles took that 42 year old fireman/guard.

9. Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama: C+ Grade
The Jets essentially traded Darrelle Revis for Dee Milliner. I just don't get why they'd deal Revis to just take another cornerback when they have two corners on the roster (Antonio Cromartie, Kyle Wilson) who proved themselves to be capable starters after Revis went down. Milliner had just six interceptions in his college career. He also was never asked to backpedal. Alabama cornerbacks have a history of busting in the NFL, so the Jets better hope that Milliner doesn't continue that tradition.

Follow @walterfootball for updates.

13. Sheldon Richardson, DE/DT, Missouri: B Grade
Wow, Sheldon Richardson before Sharrif Floyd and Star Lotulelei? Many will bash this selection, I'm sure, but I don't mind it. Sheldon Richardson is the top interior pass-rusher who fits the 4-3 and 3-4 - which is key for New York because Rex Ryan loves to use both looks. I'm not sure why Richardson wasn't considered a higher-rated prospect. The Jets had to bolster their pass-rush, and they did just that with Richardson.

I'd flip the grades. No idea how Walter thinks Richardson can be a good interior 3-4 lineman.

really? milliner will make a fraction of what revis will and millner is a good 5-6 years younger.

I am just not a Pugh fan. TINY arms. Pushed around quite a bit. Poor competition, for the most part. I mean, I don't understand the pick in the first round. In the 2nd round? I think he'd be a really solid pick there. This just screams "reach" to me. Our OL is just so God-awful that they felt the need to address it and panicked when all the OL came off the board early.

Just my two cents.

He is a young David Diehl or Rich Seubert. Those guys were not first rounders.

He does kind of make a point. You now have either made Cro into a 3rd CB or Milliner is. Now, I like the pick for you guys because I think he'll be better than what you have. But I can at least see his point.

the jets are terrible and have arguably the worst team on paper in the league. they arent building for this year so who care if they have 3 corners that can start? cromartie is 29 and probably wont be a major player on the jets when they are competitive again.

milliner is very talented. im very worried about his injury history. Im not thrilled with the richardson pick. It looks like geno smith might be there in the second round

Wilson didn't look good at corner last year at all. Cro looked fantastic. Wilson will probably be used more as a nickel.

Just saying. It's at least a valid point. I want the guy I take in the top 10 to be a day 1 starter normally. I like Milliner and I like the pick.

This is why i hate the Patriots. they always make smart moves and also have one of the best QB's in history that get better with age. They traded their last 1st rounder and got back 4 picks. Yet the jets couldnt trade either of their picks lol

Rumor is Brewer is moving to G. He's up over 300 now and looks to be a G for sure.
