Well looks like Geno may be coming here, pending a team trading up and the Jaguars not taking him in the 2nd.

I watched EJ for the first couple years while I was at FSU and have watched every game the past two seasons. I'm not very high on him. Most of his completions are 3 yard passes or screen plays. He never showed good timing with his receivers IMO. Definitely not a first round pick

I would love to see us get Tyler Eifert. He looks like he is going to be a great redzone threat and can block. We could use a little height in our WR/TE core

Geno Smith is a MUCH better QB than Manuel IMO

I agree. I would love the Birds to get Geno Smith in the second round. I would have been fine with taking him at number four (not thrilled, but fine). Getting him in the second round would be a solid pick.

Geno in the 2nd seems like good value. The Jaguars might take him though.

I still wouldn't take Smith. Go defense and get a QB that fits the system later, or next year.

I'd be fine with that too. There are a couple players on defense I could see them taking now over Smith. But I think you can get Geno Smith in the second round, and still get a DT (Jonathan Hankins from OSU or John Jenkins from UGA) or a CB (Logan Ryan from Rutgers or Blidi Wreh-Wilson from UCONN) or a DE/LB type player (Jamie Collins from Southern Miss or Alex Okafor from Texas) in the third round. In this draft, I don't think the difference between the guy you are going to get on defense at this pick is going to be much different from the guy you are going to get in the third round. If I am running the show, if Geno Smith is available when I pick in the second round, I would take him unless there was a safety that I was really in love with and didn't think he could be had in the third round. That is really the only position I see that is too thin to pass up if there is a guy you want now. Not sure who that would be though because Reid and Vaccarro were already taken. I would have loved Reid in the second round.

Either way, I would be happy with Geno Smith, but I'd also be happy with a solid defensive player.

Yeah if you don't think Geno is a franchise QB then what's the point of spending a high second rounder on him. It's pretty clear that you need a top tier QB to seriously contend for the Super Bowl. If Geno doesn't look like he could be a top 10-12 QB in the league, build the defense and see what's available next year.

I understand that Smith essentially wasted his time by being there last night. However from what I heard briefly paying attention to it on TV it seemed like he was a baby about not being picked. He's not coming back today and all that jazz.

It's probably my bias since I want no part of him on the Eagles. I want to wait until next year to get our QB.

Damn, poor guy. Sucks for him that the signing bonus will probably only be a million or so now...

What a loser.

That's the biggest thing. Geno seems to have a huge ego and when it doesn't go his way he pouts. One qb I'd look at is Ryan Nassib. Doesn't posses elite mobility but is mobile enough. I think he could be a very good qb in the nfl. He had to carry his terrible team in college with no one around him.

That being said I wouldn't mind a safety, cb or lb at that position. I think the DT in the 3rd are pretty close to the 2nd in terms of talent.

I hate the way the NFL Draft is stretched out so much now. I swear there were more commercials last night than air time at the draft. I remember there used to be (at least for the first two rounds or so) limited commercials. It was great. Now it is like a 12 hour ordeal for one round.

100% agree, I want an elite QB. I doubt Geno Smith will be that.

Wait until next year's draft or the draft after that.

So here is a question, Where do the hats come from when a player stays at home? Just watched Justin Pugh's call and he was handed a Giants hat immediately. Do they just buy hats of teams that talk to them the most or do the NFL teams just send them?

Well they have cameras there, so maybe the NFL sends 32 hats along with the cameras? I don't know

My guess is that if the cameras are there, there is a representative from the NFL there with a hat from every team.

From what I could tell it was taken by a friends cell phone. I'm not sure if the TV crews were there.

I'm with you. I don't actively follow it anymore, I just check updates a couple times a day, or even the day after to see what went down.
