The Blues' next game is against Chicago. They haven't beat them yet this year so there is still a chance.

Except the game has no meaning to Chicago whatsoever, so if I were the Hawks, I would bench as many key guys as possible and if I can't bench them, I would give the 4th line "1st line" ice time, and vice versa.

The Blues, on the other hand, will be going hard for home ice in the first round.

The Hawks should rest their regulars while the Blues still have much to play for. I'd favor the Blues in their next game.

Lol, if the Blues beat the Hawks, we'll be In the exact spot as we were last year: win and face St. Louis, lose and face Vancouver.

Not yet. Depends on Minny. Minny could still get to 57 points, and if the Blues end up 4 and Minny is at 57 and the Sharks end at 57, Sharks would go to Anaheim.

So don't be too quick just yet to say that we'll be in that same position. Minny has two easy games to close it out too. We could easily be in this situation:

Win and play St. Louis, Lose in OT/SO and play Vancouver, Lose in Regulation and play Anaheim. Now THAT is lol-worthy.

True. I think St Louis wins, so losing Saturday and Minnesota winning out would probably be our best bet.

Especially if it goes to OT vs Kings (like last season's finale). Just score on yourself in that scenario and yell out "BRING ON THE NUCKS!!!!!"

Seems like we are screwed. Weirdly enough, we match against the Kings the best and doesn't seem like we're gonna be facing them.

Will we know the results of the Blue vs Hawks before they play?

I think the Sharks need to get at least 1 point to make sure the Wild don't pass us.

Get a point then shoot the puck into our own net in OT to play Vancouver?

That game should be over before opening faceoff for Sharks/Kings, worst case it ends during first few minutes of 1st period.

Even more than that. If Sharks are up 1 with 30 seconds left against Kings in 3rd, let them score, get the point, and then put it in our own net in OT to play Couver.

If both teams try to tank, then we would basically be watching the hockey version of the South Park baseball episode where the kids want to lose and competing teams try to throw games as well.

We REALLY need to avoid St. Louis! I think we could still be the 4th against LA if the Blues lose and we beat LA in overtime or a shootout. Pretty unlikely though.

I'd rather play LA, Ana and Vancouver before St. Louis

From what I can tell, this is the situation at hand. First, the easy parts:

If the Sharks lose in regulation & Minnesota wins their final two, we tie but lose the ROW tiebreaker. Sharks go to Anaheim. LA holds the ROW tiebreaker so this situation cannot happen to them.

If the Sharks pick up a point or Minnesota fails to claim a point, they will finish no lower than 6th.

Now the mess, assuming Minnesota does not tie the Sharks. Based on what happens with the Blues game that morning:

If STL wins, they lock 4th place.
Winner of Sharks-Kings goes to STL, loser goes to VAN.

If STL loses in REG
Winner of Sharks-Kings locks 4th.
If LA loses in REG, they go to VAN. SJ hosts STL.
If SJ loses in REG, they go to VAN unless MIN wins last two games. LA hosts STL.
If LA loses in OT/SO, they tie STL but win on ROW. SJ hosts LA, STL to VAN.
If SJ loses in OT/SO, they tie STL but lose on ROW. LA hosts STL, SJ to VAN.

If STL loses in OT/SO
If LA wins in REG or OT, LA ties STL but win on ROW. LA hosts STL, SJ to VAN.
If Sharks win in REG or OT, SJ ties STL but loses on ROW. STL hosts SJ, LA to VAN.

Whew. I think that's all of it.

Why do I get the feeling that the least likely thing in this list is going to happen?

Skinner never played on Eric's wing, he usually plays with Jordan, or with scrubs. Tlusty has insane chemistry with Eric, and is an amazing garbage man. He's always in the right spot. Just a really good player that won't dazzle you with any particular skill. My prediction is that the Canes make the playoffs next year.

Why whine about matchups? The best team is going to be the one to get it done.

so we can end up watching something like jets fans watched in the 3rd period last night against montreal.

i swear the jets players and coaches were told during the 2nd intermission that they had been eliminated from the playoffs. the team had so much jump and were playing so good in the 1st 2 periods, then they just came out and crapped the bed in the 3rd period.

What does Columbus need to get into the playoffs. I hope they make it but it sounds grim at this point.

They need to win tomorrow, and hope that either Minnesota loses today and tomorrow, or that Detroit loses tomorrow.

1. Columbus needs to beat Nashville - period - don't do this, don't get in.

Then it can get interesting...

If Detroit wins, Det is in.
If Minnesota loses both while CBJ and Det win, Minnesota is out.

If Detroit loses & CBJ win, CBJ in.

Minnesota needs 1 point to stay in the playoffs. Detroit needs 1 point to stay in. CBJ need 2 since they lose the tie breakers to both Minnesota & Detroit.

That any clearer?

Yes, thank you. So basically, go Dallas.
