Still, that's something they should have been actively addressing before last year.

they have Jeff Frazee in Albany and hes going to be 26 next month. The other guys in the AHL I know little about.
I really have zero sympathy for them.

EDIT: Maybe they make a play for Sunshine this summer.

That would be soul crushing. It would turn my smug satisfaction over their lack of ready solutions into pure rage, assuming he works out for them.

My thing with Frazee is...why isn't he getting any NHL time?

no idea. I think hes actually a good goalie. He has played on some really, really bad teams in the AHL in Lowell and now in Albany. I think the only time they really used a younger guy for a good stretch to back up Marty was Clemmensen.
I understand why they did that because Brodeur was such a horse back playing 70 plus games a year they wanted to develop their goalies in the AHL. Problem was they draft a guy and he spends a half dozen years in the minors waiting. I thought Ahonen was going to be a good one to backup Brodeur a decade ago.
But now the end is clearly near for Brodeur. He has one more year left then they will have some decisions to make.

They have Scott Wedgewood who was a 3rd round pick a few years ago and played for Canada in the WJC's. He spent most of the year with Trenton in the ECHL though. I know they like him but he's not ready for the NHL yet.

It should be interesting to see what they do.

Wedge was brilliant most of the time, and has NHL athleticism and mindset already, but he's prone to softies. He went up to Albany and started well, going 2-0...then struggled in his final 3 games. It'll take him another year or two until he's NHL ready. I'm going to have a tough time rooting against him when he makes it, he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet

It will most definatly be interesting to see what they do after he has retired. Not only is he a great goaltender. But from what I've seen, they base a lot of their defense around his puckmoving skills. I doubt whoever comes next will live up to that part of the game.

So I was looking on the NHL's Game Center app at the statistical leaders for each category and noticed that despite scoring 26 goals Jeff Carter was still not in the top 30 for points overall. Now I know he's a goal scorer but so are Stamkos and Ovie and those guys at least have double digit assists to go along with the 20 something goals. I just thought it was interesting that he couldn't get anymore than 7 assists this year.

It is kind of bizarre, but it does help the Voarcek > Carter argument.

All indications are the Dallas Stars are about to make a GM change. Detroit's Jim Nill expected to be named GM of Stars as early as Mon.

From the scoreboard, it looks like the Devils' tank was fully functional yet again. I hate to be hoping for a loss, but going down in regulation leaves the Flyers in 8th, ahead of the Devils and Sabres.

This is a bit early, but who do you guys want to see win the cup this year?

Is it incredibly weird and awkward that I want Chicago to win it?.....omg I feel like such a traitor

Chicago was my 2nd team until 2010...so now I'm kind of indifferent to them. I wouldn't mind seeing them win I guess.

Go Blues!

PHX tallies first, a point for them keeps us behind them. (Or in front of them in the draft order if you feel like looking at it that way)

Honestly I don't care who wins it, as long as it's not Pittsburgh. Maybe I'll keep half a thumb for the Caps but I have a hard time seeing them going deep.

Don Cherry had another senile moment tonight and made some sensitive comments regarding female reporters in sports on Coach's Corner.
