If we had a mediocre power play at best and a penalty kill that was decent I would say maybe we could take the Pens to 6 games. You know they are gonna get tons of powerplays and the way our penalty kill has been and the weapons their powerplay has I would see them scoring 2-3 powerplay goals a game and I doubt we even get one a game. Bottom line is we get dominated on special teams. We can not win.
Hey, who am I to disgree with a Ranger fan about the Rangers. If you want Boston, go for it and hopefully Torts play's Hank tomorrow.
Bottom line is, we don't outmatch any playoff team in the east, in any category, besides goaltending.
Our PP is abysmal, and has been for 100 years...
With our D, our goaltending... If we had an anywhere from good to leathal PP I'd give us a good shot at winning it all.
Instead it's non existent. Teams know this. They kill penalties aggressively, which makes us lose confidence. That also take liberties at ES because they know we CAN'T make them pay.
How is this different from last year? I can give you last year's PK as a strength that we are missing this year but instead our 3rd pair D now is better compared to last year's (especially when Staal returns)
If the isles lose tonight then we should be losing intentionally on saturday.
Not lose intentionally, but definitely should rest some of big guys. Didn't we play Pittsburgh once the top seeds were all set and Stepan ending up getting knee-on-knee'd by Orpik? We don't need another situation like that heading into the playoffs. Call up all our AHL guys and let them get some experience against the Devils lol. Not gonna happen, I know.
