Guys on WIP are pumping up the Stanford TE, a big, downfield threat early in the 2nd round. Sounds good to me. Then again so does a NT, a S, a CB...we have more holes than I thought on this team

TE wouldn't be a smart pick. We have celek and harbor and just signed Casey. Other than QB, they should be picking defensive players as you pointed out.

Celek is a number 2 TE, Harbor is a number 3 and Casey is an H-back type. If there were a true number 1 TE in a league where 2 TE sets are absolutely unstoppable, I'd be all over it. Unfortunately, Zack Ertz can't block very well at all, so while the position could make sense, I don't think the player does.

I disagree. Look at Belicheck's system and how he uses his TEs. He got that system from Chip Kelly, so we'll need another top end option at TE soon. Celek I'm fine with, though he's had a rough couple of seasons when he should have broken out. Casey seems like a good pick-up, but we'll see how they use him. I still don't think very much of Clay Harbour...

I'd be cool with Ertz. I'm pretty much happy with whomever they pick tonight if it is on the line (offense or defense), DB, Ertz, or Smith. I wouldn't take an LB, I wouldn't take a QB other than Geno Smith, I wouldn't take a TE other than Ertz.

I'd rather have Escobar personally, especially if he falls to the 3rd. Wouldn't mind Kelce in the 3rd either. Kid is a physical beast.

Celek is a complimentary player. Harbor isn't NFL caliber. Casey is a hybrid. They need a big TE that can be a threat in the redzone.

I think Ertz is, was, and will be a better player than Escobar. That being said, if you can get Escobar in the third round and a different guy in the second, I'd do that. Trouble is you don't know if Escobar will be there in round three. I don't think TE is a desparate need this season, so missing out on Ertz AND Escobar is not the end of the world. There are other TEs out there (Kelce, McDonald, Reed) that are fine choices if TE is the pick in the third round and Escobar and Ertz are gone. Some would probably argue better picks.

The Eagles have followed Escobar closely during the pre-draft process. He didn't run a great 40, but he's very good in short areas at 6'6. Hopefully they can trade down a few spots from #35 and grab an extra 4th or so.

Kelly is obviously familiar with Ertz and Tiololo (mid round guy). Travis Kelce (Jason's brother) has been followed closely as well. Vance McDonald is a big, raw, athletic guy who has risen of late. As a Florida fan I love Jordan Reed. He's in that Aaron Hernandez mold, but he's a bit redundant with Casey here. Dion Sims from Michigan St. is a very solid player. Huge guy. Deceptive speed and a very good blocker. Not necessarily a #1 TE, but could be a nice #2. The TE class is pretty solid this year and I would bet the Eagles walk away with one before the night is over.

I can see it now. With the 35th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft the Philadelphia Eagles select Geno Smith QB West Virginia.

I'd take Mathieu but not in the second round.

I don't know, the Titans just traded up...they could use a QB.

But yeh I don't think they would give up on Locker so soon they spent a high pick on him a couple of years ago.

Nah. There was no chance they were taking a QB there. They have Jake Locker. Dude will be a solid NFL starter if they can get him some weapons (which it looks like they may have).

I'll take it. Solid pick. Gotta imagine they look defense with the next pick (unless Geno Smith is still available).

Also, I love not really having to worry that Andy Reid is going to go crazy off board and take someone three rounds too early.
