if we are trading staal i would want faulk/murphy+tlusty+1st. probably overpayment but if you want a teams best dman who they have no interest in trading, youre gonna have to overpay

Carolina currently sits 6th overall pending the outcomes of the games this weekend and the lottery on Monday. Justin Faulk. Would the Canes deal him? Jamie McBain can be had. He was available at the trading deadline. According to Darren Dreger, many teams were looking at him. McBain needs a change of scenery. Jiri Tlusty. He had a great season playing with a dislocated finger. There's 2011 first round pick Ryan Murphy. The Rangers had him in for a visit and testing before the 2011 draft.

Rutherford says Tim Gleason played part of season with broken foot, Jiri Tlusty with a dislocated finger.

#1 pick. Justin Faulk. Another asset.

lol no way they're moving Faulk. He is just as good as Staal and doesn't have the severe injury pedigree associated with him.

I disagree. Of the top 4 dmen we have (McD, Girardi, Staal, DelZotto), I cannot say there is an odd man out at this point and certainly not Girardi.

Car #1, Tlusty, McBain is a tempting offer. Not a piece over 25 in that deal. Could set us up for some time.

I don't think Carolina would entertain the idea of moving Faulk at all, let alone add to it. He's a very good player now and is only going to get better.

I'd be too worried that Tlusty is a flash in the pan, or is in an optimal situation where he, Semin and Eric Staal have unreal chemistry. Guy has a hell of a shot though, and I liked his physicality last night.

This was seriously posted? Love nonsense. I guess I should've expected this with the three Staal's playing for Carolina last night.

Marc would also have tremendous value to the Canes off the Ice. Tons of marketing and national media attention.

Concussion and loss of peripheral vision. Few teams would pay full value with those previous issues.

Link? Especially about the concussion?

(Hint: Noone ever makes a "full recovery" from a concussion -- in fact, hes more susceptible to another one)

Yeah. The Almighty Justin Faulk cannot ever be hit with a puck.

Give me a break about Staal's "injury pedigree."

There's actually quite a bit of evidence in support of that not being true. Unless there are genetic issues predisposing one to concussions, the recent findings indicate that as long as you allow the brain to heal properly, you aren't more likely to suffer another one.

By the way for the eye-rollers in this thread. I know it's been said before, but for the umpteenth time:

No one WANTS to trade Staal just for fun (just like the Pens/Pens fans didn't want to trade their Staal). However, we cannot keep all of Staal, McD, MDZ - and now Moore. At some point we will need to trade at least one of them or lose him for nothing to UFA. Market dynamics in a cap world dictate this fact (and the drafting of Skjei and subsequent acquisition of Moore indicate that management is working under this premise as well). If Marc is likely to go to Carolina anyway (and this will be based on management's read), then he's the obvious candidate. That's why this thread is here - and why it's not ridiculous.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. There are only two questions: 1) is it Staal or MDZ who gets moved? And 2) is it this summer or next?

Or re-sign him, trade Del Zotto for Jordan?

I don't think we should trouble us self with Marc leaving the Rangers for Caralina in FA or try to deal him for future, lesser players (picks) cause of that.

Serviceable top 4 defenseman with no offensive game. His name gives him some leverage, and he wants to play with his brothers, like every human being does.

Late 1st/early 2nd would suffice I'd say.
