pleks takes a lot for the team. he never whines. quietly accomplishes his defensive missions. hasn't always been blessed with the best wingers; guys in a slump were always getting paired with him to try and get them going, sucking offence into a black hole. he keeps on trucking. keeps owning that PK.

we love you pleks! been one of my faves since the #35 days.

For everyone who was posting in or reading this thread, was tonight not a prime example of all the strengths he displays, particularly being strong on his skates. Several times bigger guys around him were falling and he was just standing there/skating circles around them. Such great puck possession. He also laid another pretty decent hit. And then there was that goal. He loves his slappers and sometimes they can seem ill-chosen, but when they work they're amazing!

People point fingers at him as soon as he doesn't rack up points in a consistent basis WHILE playing with offensively-chanllenged teammates AND being overworked on defensive assignments. This season is heaven sent for him: playing with a hot scorer and having less PK work (the team is just way more disciplined this season).

He has always been our #1 center and one of our most valuable players.

You wanna motivate gangsta even more? Give him his childhood idol and bring over Jagr as a way to say "We appreciate your years of hard work Tomas, we know everything you've done for your team, here is the one player you have the most chemistry with. Go crazy."

Seriously, it's not entirely unlike the Crosby/Iginla situation. Reward your best players for the betterment of your team's success. Watch Chara try to defend Plekanec AND Jagr.

This is not untrue. My only concern would be Jagr in last years playoffs. He would get reamed here for that. I know he was injured, but will he be injured again come playoff time or past rd1? It would be nice to have a gamebreaker like him, but I wouldn't want to give up much for him. I honestly like our lineup the way it is IF Bourque is healthy.

I've liked Plekanec ever since I saw him play in a preseason game against the Bruins at the Bell Centre in 2002 but I didn't know he would prove to be so valuable to the Habs over the years.

The Tomas Plekanec Appreciation Thread

I think it's time we give some love to the Gangsta, the Turtleneck Terror, the Tomas Jagr. Criminally underrated player. Can't believe how good he is in both ends of the ice, he truly is the anchor of our offensive group.

Best player the Habs have had in years. Top-5 forward since I've been alive. Love him. Always have since the first time he took the ice.

This, exactly this!

He's really very good, and I'm glad that he seems like the kind of guy that would stay here until he retires. And still every year there are people who want to trade him...

The thread could also be called, "The straw that stirs the drink". He is our best player and it's not even close.

Even in a game where he clearly wasn't 100% he still made life easier for everyone around him. I can't imagine this team without him.

I agree with all of you 100% he is absolutely one of the most underrated players to play the game, offensively he's been put with slumpers(not so much this year) and still consistently produces, and defensively he's a beast. It's funny how everyone in Montreal sees this but not many others do,

Love you pleky

Bergeron gets talked a lot because he's a canadian player.

Plekanec deserves more respect league-wide.

I hope this guy gets hot in the playoffs and scores some goals, in a bit of a slump not scoring a goal this month.

This got me thinking...we ***** and moan a lot about DD but can you imagine how this team would handle the loss of Pleky for any extended period of time? The guy plays every situation...you'd think that it would be conducive to getting hurt, yet...there he is, game in and game out...this guy is the core that holds it all together!

Plekanec probably does play hurt quite frequently, considering he goes through at least one bad slump a season and only misses like one game.

He's been our worst center for the past week or so, and when I saw this threat bumped I expected to see patofqc or something calling him a little girl. I really want to see him with Pacioretty more.

Yeah, he had one brain fart last night when his needless icing resulted in the Jets second goal, but it's rare to see Plekanec make a mental error. The guy is amazing - never complains, never quits, pounces on every opportunity with lightning speed. Unmatched work ethic. Great forward and a great role model.

I'd be proud to see him retire as a Hab.

We should still have Koivu. ****, I've always missed Koivu since he left.
