If I'm not wrong, a Tampa win, a Nashville OT loss, and an Avs win would mean we stay in 29th right?

That would give us 41, Tampa 42, Nash 42

That would be the ideal scenario bc we could knock out Minnesota and stay in 29th.

Not completely true.
Avs can win 10 - 0 for all I care as long as TBL wins (or picks up a point) and NSH loses in OT.

Best case scenario right now.
But I really should not stay up for it.
Might cost me more than a few days of my life if it would go down like this...

here is the rule regarding a tie after ROW.

"The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing."

IIRC The next tiebreaker is head to head with the first game excluded because the Avs had 2 home games. So tied again. Then it goes to goal diff where Nashville wins.

I don't think those other teams are quite as awful at tanking as we are, they'll both probably lose in regulation

If I read that right, Nashville wins because they got 3 points while the Avs got 2

The worst we can finish would be 28th then. And with a good chance one of the top 3 teams wins the lottery, I think getting that Top 3 player is pretty good odds right now.

Tampa sucks at tanking actually, seeing as Stamkos and St. Louis are looking for trophies. Top 4 Offense vs AHL quality goal-tending should yield results in our favor there.

Nashville is the worry IMO.

On second thought you might be right.
But I think the "If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing." would be the determining tiebreaker.
NSH lost the second game in OT ) higher percentage of available points.
SO win should be fine as long as TBL picks up a point.
But does anyone want to sweat throught this OT ?
Certainly not me...

Not if Avs win a ROW tomorrow and NSH loses in Reg... and TB loses

Avs would have higher ROW than NSH

You people honestly believe that they should throw the games to get a draft pick? Disgusting.

I think a better player in the draft will help us for years to come, more than a win at this point in a lost season would.

I love all the people trying to take the moral high ground. haha

I won't allow my self to be pissed that they won, and I'm going to enjoy every time they do. But I'm hoping we stay in 29th somehow, so I'm for the tank and the wins.

This team has proven to themselves that if they put in the effort, they can beat any team in the NHL. That's pretty important, and picking up a guy like Barkov isn't exactly losing out when it comes to the draft.

There is also a chance with the lottery and that the Avs push hard to trade up for Jones as well. At least these games have been worth watching this last week. Unlike two straight weeks prior...

I still want them to tank though.... (So basically I'm on both sides.) But you're not going to see me calling people out who are all in on the tank either.

While I know that in the log run a loss would've been better, I still like seeing the Avs win. Especially after a good effort like tonight's. Holy smokes was Duchene electric out there.

With the new lottery weighting, it hardly matters where they are in the bottom. But yeah, go ahead and get mad that they aren't throwing games, it's a really charming trait in a fanbase.

We don't want them to lose on purpose. Just to lose legitimately.

Didn't see it mentioned, but JSG's injury was the groin. Hopefully he doesn't have cronic problems with that again.
