Most likely buy-outs this summer

Who gets bought out this summer?

Heatley (7.5 cap hit, 5.0x1 salary)
Havlat? (5.0 cap hit, 5.0x1,6.0x1 salary)
D. Jones? (4.0 cap hit, 4.0x3 salary)

Wouldnt be surprised to see Ryan Smyth (2.5 cap hit, 2.5x1 salary), Eric Belanger (1.75 cap hit, 1.25x1 salary), Ben Eager (1.1 cap hit, 1.2x1 salary) from Oilers

Briere. Also the players from the the oilers wont be buyouts. They are still pretty cheap and movable.

I would have to say David Jones. He's been just awful this year. He has never shown enough to get that contract.

even if they buy out Briere, the Flyers are still screwed with the cap. Plus, they'll still have Bryzgalov nonsense to deal with....Timonen's contract is also killing them..not that I mind at all...

Heatley needs to be healthy to be bought out.

I'm a little bit worried about it.

Two out of Colaiacovo, Bertuzzi, Samuelsson and Quincey SHOULD be bought out, but I doubt that will happen.

If it was my decision I'd buy out Colaiacovo and Samuelsson.

Not buying out Havlat. He's been great for us since he returned from his injury.
If there isn't a salary minimum, that buy-out should go to Burish.

Some to add....

Briere
Luongo

There are 2 type of buy outs...they are the same formula..just one shows on the sheet, the other is wiped off and opens up cap space.

The formula is:

If they are owed x per year for n years then the pay out is x/3 for 2n years.

Keith Ballard. Had a great first half of the year, then had two rough games and an injury and was never able to get back on track. He won't be with the Canucks next year.

I agree. I also think once he gets rid of that burdensome contract, he'll be back in the NHL next year. He had 41 points in 50 games in the AHL before an injury last year, and another 18 in 15 games in the AHL this year after he recovered. He's still just 27 years old, but his cap hit ($3.1 million!) is just keeping him out of the NHL.

Possibilities for the Panthers:

Upshall
Kuba
Clemmensen

Would have added Jovo to the list, but he is the captain, and the team really has a lot of respect for him, so Im thinking that next year might be his last. Im pretty sure that Tallon will look at all possibilities for the three mentioned above. Clemmensen could be back since he only has a year left on his deal, but we all would much rather see the Panthers re-sign Theodore, and have him backup Markstrom.

Hopefully DiPietro.

Brad Richards will almost definitely be bought out but not until next summer I would guess.

I hope David Booth is on that list for the same reason. He's just too injury prone for anyone to rely on for more than half a season. And frankly, not that good to begin with.

Grabovski(unlikely)
Komisarek(most likely)

Komisarek sat out almost all year, then asked to be moved, couldn't be moved and went down to the AHL. Bozak is a UFA and may walk. If that happens there's no chance Grabovski's bought out when the team is thin down the middle.

Maybe Wang greenlights the buyout this summer, thinking the next owner will be footing the bill ?
