Our record in the Q is awful.
The Q scouts records go back to only 2009. When Gillis took over and did his evaluation of the scouting staff, he canned the Q scouts and one western prairie scout (Saskatchewan or Manitoba, can't remember which). I don't remember if he fired any Ontario scouts or not but he did add that ex-San Jose scout to Ontario.

Someone less lazy than me can probably find the list, it's been posted before on this site.

Still wish he would have turfed the entire western scouting crew.

At least the improvement in the scouting from Nonis to Gillis is obvious. Far more pro potential in the Gillis era.

Interesting. I was always under the impression that he actually had yet to fire anybody from the scouting staff - only adding Palango in Ontario. Though I do agree about the improvement when you compare the regimes. Amazing how well the Ontario region has done since we added one scout, although something may also be said for the supposed change in criteria when looking at potential draftees.

We have added quite a few part and full timers. Inge Hammarstrom was doing work for us and was part of the Rodin pick, in Sweden, IIRC. The scouts who picked up Price and Hutton as well were not the regular guys.

Is there anyway to know which scouts factored into which picks? I'm generally curious. Some of you guys seem to know (@windflare).

Different media sources - not just the local papers, but smaller papers based in different regions and beat/blog writers often have a heads up on these thing. Inge Hammarstrom scouted and also had a hand in overseeing the development of Andersson and Rodin over in Sweden.

http://canucks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=505488
http://canucks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=507452

And there were also a few Aftonbladet articles and others from closer in to the draft in 2008.

The Price and Hutton stuff were from smaller regional articles that were scoured up at that time - you can probably still google them up.

EDIT: Forgot this: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...php?p=52310411 - you can see a tweet from Mark Seidel at that time, which stated Ken Cook as the scout who worked for the Canucks and recommended the Hutton pick.

Brain Chapman is responsible for Patrick McNally.

Bracket and Bates are both based in Boston, focus on the USHL and NCAA. Bates looks to have expanded his role, went from amateur to professional. Bracket, if you ever run across his twitter, seems to know about every single junior hockey transaction in the USA. Its crazy. I believe one of these guys or both is responsible for Cannata.

Palango is directly responsible for Corrado, while we're on the topic.

Gaunce has an assist on the goal to tie the game, Belleville up 2-1 right now, on the ropes in the series.

Yeah that was a nice pass by Gaunce on the goal. Dot to dot on the rush for the one timer by Brassard. Hopefully if the Bulls do lose the series he'll get called up for Black Ace duty during the playoffs.

Meh... I'd rather see him play a lot of competitive hockey rather than just skating around in practice.

What competitive hockey would there be for him to play if the Bulls go out?

If Gauce team lose next game.......we could use him as a fourth line center......better than Ebbert I don't him on the team anyway in the playoff.....will be a liability and opponent team will use it against us

Ebbett might be a liability, but a raw rookie won't be?

I rather have Schroeder there but did you see Ebbett last game?

Jason Botchford ‏@botchford 1m
Paging Schroeder MT @ThomasDrance Ebbett played less than 12 mins Thursday. In those mins the #Ducks attempted 16 shots, the #Canucks 1.

You're way out to lunch if you think an 18yr old who has never played a game in the NHL could fare better than an AHL veteran who has played more than just spot duty in the NHL.

If I remember correctly, it was Barry Dean (SK) who was turfed out.

One of the first scouts I turfed in EHM 2007, I think. Along with Snepts - horrible scout.

Funnily enough, Delorme is one of the better scouts in that game.

I still have his hockey card from when I was a kid. They made a printing error on it, called him 'Mario Marios.'

EDIT: found it!
