Flames season is over, they finish between 4th and 6th so we get between 34th and 36th overall.

NSH pick could be as high as 32nd if COL wins their final 2 games (up 3-2 tonight in PHX, host desperate Wild tomorrow), TB gets at least a point vs FLA (should happen) and NSH loses in regulation tomorrow @ CBJ (likely).

Looking at past drafts...you often see a high quality prospect go in the top 3 of round 2 and become a quality NHLer. Guys like Eriksson, ROR, Voinov, Bolland, Neal, etc. It would really be nice to have 32nd or 33rd overall.

2003 (33rd - Loui Eriksson)
2004 (32nd - Dave Bolland)
2005 (33rd - James Neal, 35th - ME Vlasic)
2006 (34th -Michal Neuvirth, 36th - Jamie McGinn)
2007 (no one lol)
2008 (31st - Jacob Markstrom, 32nd - Vyacheslav Voynov, 34th - Jake Allen, 38th - Roman Josi)
2009 (33rd - Ryan O'Reilly, 38th - Alex Chiasson, 39th - Jakob Silfverberg)
2010 (37th - Justin Faulk, 38th - Jon Merrill) - totally in Timmins ball park
2011 (32nd -Ty Rattie, 35th - Tomas Jurco, 37th - Boone Jenner)

Having 2 picks in this range is going to be quite interesting.

God damnit... 7 top 6 forwards so far(Not counting 2011) three blue chip goalies, 4 top 4 D's, 4 blue chip prospect... Good god, it feels good.
Add Collberg and Dansk to this list.

Those picks are often the one that fell out of the first round and have a chip on their shoulders to prove everybody wrong. Those players are often ranked high on the list of certain teams because nobody has the same ranking. I can't wait for the draft for those 3 picks in the Top 36 (at worst.)

I'd wait for the second round, but he's definitely on my radar. People on here are raving on Poirier but to me Carrier is a premium version of Poirier.

I'm not taking a shot at Poirier by the way, but he has dropped in my mind, mainly due to the U-18. I hadn't seen most Americans/Swedish.

Poirier is on my radar too,a but I wouldn't look at him before our 2nd rounder.

He was pretty invisible in Blainville for game #3 and #4. He's a good player, but yes he could fall beyond the first round. Although it would be surprising.

My biggest knock on him is his skating, but he will be able to improve it. He plays a power game and thrives along the boards. He's a goal scorer that isn't scared to get to the dirty areas to produce. He's also the best player on his line, he's the one who creates the most offensively.

He lost his spot on the first PP during the playoffs, but I link that to the good play of Grégoire, who has been in fuego so far. It might not be it, though, as I have only watched Baie-Comeau 4 times this post-season.

I definately have us drafting William Carrier with Calgary 2nd if he is there. He has it all and is a hometown guy to boot.

And if Nashville loses next game, their 2nd is even better!

3 picks in the top-40! Awesome stuff!

If "having it all" includes significant questions about his durability, character, smarts and fitness, then yes..by all means pick him early in the second. ;-) Not a Timmins/Bergy type player I don't think.

He was looking like an early 2nd rounder until he missed the last 4 months this year. Made some nice strides with his skating this year. Might slide to 35-40 due to his injury. I could see him as a guy we trade our 2nd and a later pick to move up 8-10 spots to get him.

So basically, best case scenario is that we draft 32nd and 34th? That would really be awesome. Also, it would be nice for the Flyers and Devils to pass the Stars in the overall standings. That would push our 3rd rounder to 69th overall

I obviously want the habs to win tonight, so that would leave us with these draft picks (hopefully) in the first 3 rounds

1- 25
2- 32
2- 34
2- 56
3- 69
3- 86

32-35 is the best we can do. Tampa Bay can't pass Calgary unfortunately....

The worst we can do is 35-36

Are you sure about that? They'd have the same amount of points and the same amount of wins. After that, I don't know what the next tie breaker is. Goals for? Goal differential?

First tie breaker is the ROW and Calgary is at 19 and Tampa at 17, that's why they can't pass them.

The Avs won last night, so the dream for 32nd is still alive!

Tonight we are rooting for:

COL to beat MIN in regulation or OT.
NSH to lose in regulation.
TB to win (in part because I hate that franchise and want them nowhere near Jones or Drouin)
CAR to get at least 1 point.

Which would give us the 32nd pick via NSH and 35th pick via CGY. FLA-NSH-COL-TB-CGY would be the top 5.

Yeah, good eye. 35th. They both can't be in the top 4.
