Aside for some at least notable quality amongst the forwards, this is an absolute disgrace for our nation. Luckily when looking at the NHL standings our recent growth of depth concerning real quality defensemen in the NHL seems to provide us with some players. Young players which never says no if healthy.

Good choices. Two of them i want on the Olympic team as well as of now, Lundqvist and Thörnberg.

As it stands right now Detroit are outside the playoffs, if they stay out it'd be a huge boost for the WC squad.

Starting to wonder which NHL players will come over, I suspect Hedman, Ekman-Larsson and Landeskog would be absolute locks. Most of the teams that have really good Swedish players are still in the playoff race though. I suspect Enström will just decline yet again if Winnipeg misses the playoffs, despite this being his opportunity to earn a place on the Olympic team.

Also wonder how this team will look in net. Markström a possibility? Lindbäck hasn't been great for Tampa and Enroth has barely played this season.

Is there any chance that Sweden would be interested in Erik Gustafsson (Flyers) for the upcoming WCH?

Complete long shot. Sweden will likely get Hedman, OEL, A.Larsson. And then there's Erixon and Tallinder that would be in front of Gustafsson for a call. I have a feeling they won't call in an entire D core this year, four NHL guys maybe.

I hope Minnesota does not cut the play-offs. Brodin is a way more tempting player than Erixon. Will not happen though as Minnesota will make it most likely.

Same old story. It's time for "injuries" to magically appear when the world champs is around the corner.

Don't think so with Hedman. I've never seen any of the -90 born or younger say no to Tre Kronor. The problem has been with older, established players.

Yeah, you're probably right, wasn't meant against Hedman particulary, I just got a bit pessimistic reading about it.

Sounds like some of the first cuts are Andersson and Omark. We can probably expect Klasen to be out with concussion aswell, no matter what his status on the team was.

Markström and Landeskog are the first additions.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson suffered an ankle injury during last night's Coyotes game taking a hard shot to the ankle and will not play for Sweden at this year's IIHF World Championship.
