We all need to be very careful not to heap expectations on whoever we get. It is highly unlikely that we find a savior, especially in the first few years. We have to look at whoever we bring in as a piece of the puzzle, along with Wilson, Bourque, and Forsberg. We aren't drafting a savior, just another piece of the puzzle.

Totally agree but it is definitely a possibility we get a saviour, just don't bank on it.

My only question,
Why do people keep mentioning bourque with Wilson and FF? I've seen this a few times now. Bourque will never be as good as those two and his ceiling is not even projected to be a top 6 guy. He's a good bottom six guy.

Personally, I think he can be a decent 2nd line winger. He was our leading goal scorer before his injury this year, ahead of Erat and Legwand and everyone. He'll never be on that tier, but he is a great young depth player.

Clune was also tied with erat when he was traded though. I'm just but sold on bourque as an offensive player. He had one amazing game for Canada against like Latvia or something where they won like 20-0. But I do like him as a fourth/third line guy.

I was thinking today about draft and trotz comments possibly insinuating we may move first round pick.

I think if we don't get top five pick, and can get some immediate young help. Lets do it. But inside top we should never trade it period.

Trotz has confirmed Chris Mason is in net for the Preds tonight. They know what is at stake...

Yeah, and exactly how much defensive depth is available to the Preds right now? Let's ask Scott Hannan; maybe he knows.

I'd just hesitate to make those trades, is all.

Oh good. So I don't have to set him on fire. I was worried.

I think Tampa winning is a very real possibility. They are the favorites. We are very clearly the underdogs, especially with Mason in net and our decimated team. We very easily could be sitting third this evening. I am very happy with third as long as florida, colorado, or the Preds win the lottery.

I know Preds prospect Andrews is 17 PTs in 14 games

MacK 28 PTs in 12 games. If that's bad the scouts are on crack

I felt good about TB winning until I saw they were starting Lindback, who has been as bad as Mason this year.

We're not the only ones trying to tank :/

But the Bolts are playig the Panthers who are god awful. And the Ave's last game at home and able to knock the Elfs out of playoffs.

As bad as I dispise the Bugs I hate Liarpold so I WILL be ok with a loss tonight... Yes I said it.

The stars are aligned cats and dogs getting along men understand women and the Myans were wrong. A 2nd pick is within reach and in 14 hours the speculation will pretty much be over,

Hahaha. No doubt eh!

Maybe nichushkin is just having an amazing playoffs or something. I don't get how Mack could drop. But I would be absolutely frikkin' tickled pink if we get him!!

The premise of logic is this, after Jones is picked the next two teams don't want Center help. yes, the wings have been rising but I think this is a false premise.

I think this is a semi false premise with the Preds. In Trotz's system, the center is defensively responsible. Almost a 3rd d-man. Thus, Legwand, Fisher, Spaling, Gaustad.

but if the Preds don't win the draft and pick 2nd they will be looking for a center at #2......I think I can hear Dulz crying in the distance.

Teams that have been winning the Stanley Cup have had elite centers. We don't have anything close to elite. We need an elite center. As to if Trotz turns them into a defensive player is another story...

I would hope if we get Mack, poile tells trotz just to let him play his game. We have leggy, fish and spaling to be defenseman. Lets have one offensive line with Mack, Wilson and ???

Makes sense because than our second scoring line could have legwand centering the two swedes FF and PH.

id go with this .. assuming no free agent signings either..

mackinnon with wilson and beck
fisher with hornqvist and forsberg
legwand with bourque and kostitsyn/smith (if kostitsyn is traded)

Relying on MacKinnon, Beck, Forsberg, and Wilson to all contribute reliably in a top 6 role is asking for another lottery pick next season.

i disagree. we arent the edmonton oilers. we have competent management. i do agree though we won't be great.. we will have to grow with these guys but a playoff berth with minimal to none injuries should be a realistic expectation.

what other options do we have? free agency? we oughta go ahead and name july to "National Nashville Predators Disappointment Month".. trade market is always scarce.. best option is go with lineup i posted or hope we can get a nice addition from a team in cap trouble...

*also, disagree about including wilson in your post

I just personally think Wilson and Mack's games would compliment one another very well.

Wilson should be fine, but has yet to put up even 40 points in a season. He should definitely be in a top 6 role next season, but I would hope that the time it has taken for him to develop would illustrate what should be expected of guys like Forsberg and Beck. Anybody expecting them to jump into a top 6 role, draw other team's tough assignments, and put up the 40-50 points one should expect of a top 6 forward is setting themselves up for disappointment. The team needs to add at least one top 6 capable forward in the off-season, be it through trade or free agency.

I have no doubts as to the quality of this team's management, or even coaching, going forward, but I have serious reservations as to their talent, and relying so heavily upon unproven players..
