Edmonton 1st

Was reading that the Oilers brass is consider trading their first , which is 7th OA
Looking for offers on this pick . Keep in mind we do not want draft picks coming back other wise we might as well keep our pick .

This is a deal best suited to a cap strap team . WE NEED USEFULLY PLAYERS NOW . So if your team is up against the cap lets hear your offers . Also we are not looking for 35 year old players and if the are RFA we must have a contract in place first . 1 year until UFA does not interested us

Oilers needs are , size , grit , D . Other pieces available is Hemsky any of our bottom 6 , prospects , out side of Klefbom . I also think we will be going forward with Gagner , so he is not available unless a 2 C is coming back

Coburn +

(Some Flyers fan will suggest it. Might as well get it out of the way. I hate the idea, but it's been bandied about on our board for a while).

i'd like chicago to try to make a move like this but don't know if they'd give up what edmonton would probably want.

Maybe 1st + Bolland + b-grade prospect (not Danault or Teravainen).

There is no link which states that Oil brass are going to trade their pick.

Instead is the same bs as every year.

"They might do it"
"They'll think about it"

This. They talk about it to try to drum up interest/create a bidding war, then they never trade it.

Some players that make sense to target as D who can step right in and make an impact with that 7th pick are:

Fowler: With his salary increase as well as Perry/Getzlaf increases the Ducks might look to shed his salry

Gardiner: Toronto is well stocked on the left D side. His best friend is also Schultz

Yandle: So much uncertainity around that organization and their very set on D moving forward.

Shattenkirk: St. Louis has a lot of salary increases on the way and is a payroll team.

Tyutin or Johnson: Are well positioned on D moving forward but need getting impact forwards which that 7th overall could do.

This year i think Edmonton will do it. The thing they are lacking is more character supporting players. They could use this pick to acquire a player.

in other threads....I think Boston is a real good fit because Boston will need to unload salaries from their team.

Yandle signed a very reasonable contract already in the face of ownership uncertainty. He wants to play for Phoenix. And what he provides cannot easily be replaced, even by OEL or Gormley.

If that's not enough, GMDM has explicitly stated he's not moving Yandle unless its for an overpayment centered on legit impact forwards (plural!), not futures. So sorry, but there's less than zero chance you'll be getting our two-time All Star, who's 2nd this year in goals scored among d-men in the entire league, for just a draft pick. Even if it is in the Top 10 of a top-heavy draft.

We need a big centre or a defensemen, not lesser pieces, more wingers, or anything else that we already have in abundance.

We also need an addition in the grit department across the board at all positions, especially in the bottom 6.

Their is a chance the team isn't even in Phoenix next year though.

You're right a player like Yandle can't just be easily replaced but if their is one position that Phoenix can afford to trade from it'd be the D position because Gormley and Rundblad are on the way.

Yes, there is a chance the Yotes aren't in Phoenix, but until that moment comes, GMDM doesn't move his core. And Yandle is a part of that core.

We're way more likely to trade Gormley or Rundblad for a draft pick than Yandle. I certainly would be willing to trade Gormley for a Top 7 pick in this draft. He'd be more than a nice consolation prize for those who miss out on Nurse if he goes early.

Bolland being a UFA in one season is far to risky.

The only reason the Oilers would look at moving the pick would be for immediate help. Gormley/Rundblad do not provide that. And frankly neither of those guys are worth a top 10 pick.

Makes sense for Edmonton to start going for it. Sign a couple gritty vets, like Clowe. Move the first for a physical 2-3 dman.

You need to make the team physically harder to play against, then let your offensive talent do the rest.

Are there any reputable sources reporting that Edmonton is looking to trade the pick?

Not explicitly, but no team is ever going to outright say they're trading it.

But if you read between the lines, MacT said he wants to bring in more depth to support the young stars, and he's impatient for success. His focus is on getting quality players in the dressing room. The first round pick this year is the most valuable asset that is unlikely to have an impact next year if kept.

I think Markov is a very good player but he is 34 so that would be a big no from me. PHX fans can say what ever they want but they need offense at the fwd position and I can see yandle being moved for that. The GM is not going to get the package that he wants but will get a nice return for him. PHX fans will be surprised what the return really is.

What teams are going to be in cap trouble this year?

And EDM fans can say whatever they want as well, they're not getting Yandle unless they move one of their big 4.
