GDT: Game 48: Preds vs Blue Jackets 6:00 PM CST "#Lumbus AND #tank!"

#Lumbus

and

#tank

Well...yes I definitely want to lose this one. The possibility of #Lumbus getting into the playoffs at the expense of DET or MIN and securing, at worst, the #4 draft pick (pending lottery shenanigans) is too much for me.

If the Preds lose this one, what's the worst they can finish in the standings? In such a good draft, if you guys could get one of the top 3, that would be a major help.

Right now we can pick anywhere from 2-7 depending on games tonight and the lottery.

If the Preds lose in regulation, the worst pre-lottery position is 4th and there is an 89% chance we pick in the top 3.

Technically 1-7 with the lottery! Just to be clear 7th is only possible if the Preds come in 6th (the worst they can do in the standings) and someone below 6th wins the lottery, which is fairly remote.

We'll win tonight and fall back a spot due to the lottery. Just our luck.

Tanking is against the spirit of the game though and brings a loser mentality.

I don't agree with it. I just remember it being an argument on whether to tank or not to tank. I'm all for tanking when the playoffs are slim to no chance.

If we lose tonight, and Colorado AND Tampa win their games in Regulation, we would be sitting at #2 and be able to pick-up whomever we'd want.

Tampa leap frogs us with just an OTL, they don't even have to win. COL can get a SO win and leapfrog us as well; same ROW but they win H2H record.

Definitely a day to keep tabs on other games.

tampa has a cup.. nyi is starting to bud into a legit contender thanks to tanking (tavares), washington has had more success than us (ovechkin/tank).. edmonton, columbus, atlanta all have/had inept management.. we don't. not in a position to speak about florida.. not sure what their deal is.. have to play devil's advocate

Tampa's Cup was pre-tank, and I can't consider Lecavalier a tank product, as they were n't long out of being an expansion team. Islanders are a long way from being legit contenders. Washington has had 0 playoff success despite one of the most talented teams in the league.

Correct on TBL, but COL has to win in Reg or OT not a SO. If they won in a SO, we do have same ROW, but they would beat us H2H. If teams have played an uneven amount of home games, you ignore the 1st of the team that had more (our crazy loss with the blown offsides call). In the last two games against COL (the only ones that count), we have 3 points, while they have 2.

I don't know NNC, they haven't made it past the Conference Semis either in that time span.

And still no closer to a Cup. They should have tanked harder. Hey, maybe Marty will be that piece that finally pushes them over the top.
