well it has hindered them. low popularity of hockey has meant they aren't able to generate more than 3 mil euros of revenues. even that is a stretch. in a country where hockey is genuinely popular like the czech republic there are 10 clubs with bigger budgets. in prague alone there are two clubs with revenues twice as high, and that's without even considering lev.

medveščak get good crowds and that's great but the wider interest is low. it's a nice evening out, but it doesn't draw tv-viewers. overall, there is probably enough interest to stay half-way competitive in ebel, but even that is difficult enough. croatian economy tanking in the last 3-4 years with no improvement in sight doesn't help either.

khl can be played in zagreb, but only if the russians are willing to pick up the tab.

Lets hope they come up with something more original than that.

I'm confused. Medvedev said that they liked Medveščak. But he sayd about 15 hockeymans from AHL who has a croatian roots.

Who are these 15 people? Joel Rechlicz?

Arena Zagreb is 100% ready for KHL and Dom športova needs some cosmetic changes

It doesn't? Only national teams from various sports, F1 and Champions League has higher TV ratings. Its one of the prime sporting TV rights in Croatia...

That's data from 2 years ago. I expect it to be even higher now as Champions League and F1 have moved from public to private channels.

Talking about Medveščak as a city club is wrong. Just look at the license plates of the cars around the arena(s) during the games... fans are from all over the continental (and beyond) Croatia.

Pristupnica isn't exactly application. Its more of an acceptance contract. Google translator...

It was said on Croatian TV news that we get in North America on satellite, so I don't have a link. They pretty much said it was as good as done and will be announced on Tuesday, after all the agreements regarding budget/money are signed. I guess there's always a chance it could fall apart, but it's looking positive right now.

Here's a link I found mentioning the meeting on Tuesday. Seems to be just a formality.

Tuesday is 30th of april. It is last day when clubs can send documents (budget, bank "papers") to league for next season. It applies to all clubs, not only newcomers. So yes, Medvescak will guarantee budget, but I dont think league will decide on Tuesday. Within 2 weeks for sure, I agree it will be only formality.
