That's the takeaway here. Oh - his numbers also inflate over this season, a shortened one.

He is not a difference maker at 5 on 5 or it would show up in his point production. It never - I repeat- NEVER has and it never will because it's non-existent. You can use stats and interpret them incorrectly but it still does not change this simple fact.

I'm not going to debate this over and over with different people - especially Edmonton Oilers fans after that Horcoff thread.
Now I know your talking out of your behind. Subban spends his ice time pretty much evenly split between the Habs' top 3 centers these past two years (Plekanec, Eller and Desharnais). He spent ~550 minutes with the 3rd center in Eller, and ~600 behind the top center in Plekanec with Desharnais in between the two.

And Erik Karlsson doesn't play disproportionately behind his team's scorers? He spends a huge fraction his ice time playing behind Jason Spezza, twice the amount for any other Sens centerman. In 2011-12 it was 651 minutes behind Spezza, 333 minutes behind the Sens third line C in Zach Smith.

In 2011-12 the amount of ice time behind their squad's 4th line center (Konopka and Nokelainen) was basically equal. (~110 minutes).

What you accuse Subban off here is totally false and completely made up. What's worse, its Karlsson who is actually guilty of it.

A defenseman's influence on scoring is going to be indirect, assist counts are just a proxy for that. A huge part of their role is in promoting offensive zone time for their team, while some defenders get much more leave to pinch in or play as the "4th forward" than others. Points shouldn't predominate over everything else when evaluating defensemen's 5 on 5 contributitions.

Subban is pretty good

Having a very good year

I'm not convinced he's as amazing as the Habs fan want everybody else to believe but he's making it harder to do so

Biggest diver in the league. One of the dirtiest hitters. Seems like an overall piece of ****. But he is a good defenseman.

We'll agree to disagree. I've seen Subban get people off their games, but as often, the way he accomplishes this is by getting himself and his teammates off theirs as well.

Take two weeks ago. Pittsburgh has a big lead. Montreal gets a couple goals to close the distance. Instead of contributing to this possible comeback, Subban gets himself ejected by punching some guy who was minding his own business for absolutely no reason. Shortly after, Pittsburgh scores again, killing the idea of a comeback dead in its tracks.

You ask me, Subban's at his best when he's using his considerable strength and wheels to collect and advance the puck...and his bomb of a shot to make life difficult for goaltenders. When he's clowning around, he isn't doing any of that.

Loving the clueless fans who wrote they don't like his antics. When was his most recent antic? What did he do?

You're just making excuses to dislike an outstanding player. As if you seriously want a bunch of boring, monotone players in the league with no passion...

You might hate him but stop lying... Biggest diver is Marchand. And one of the dirtiest hitters? Yeah.. he's right there with Raffi Torres. You are smart.

Subban jumps as much as Torres. The difference is Subban also runs them.

Great player, have always liked him and the fans he tends to annoy the most are the kind I don't like anyway, overly-serious Cherrymobile passengers. So that's really nothing but a plus in my book.

Yea Subban is so dirty, not a single hearing or suspension in his career.

Does a lot of stupid stuff that rarely gets caught by the refs.

He's his own worst enemy most of the time.

He said Subban runs and jumps at people like Torres, why doesn't he get in trouble for it at all?

Subban is a star player. Torres is a 4th liner.

I like him and always have. Became a fan at the WJC and still love him because of his play.

He could do without a lot of the antics, though. Makes him look like a huge idiot at times.

Hate the arrogance, cockiness, and turtling.

Love the talent, skill, and physical play and would love to see him as a Bruin.

He'd drop the gloves far more often as a Bruin than he does as a Hab.

The only time where Pernell might have been overrated is after his monster playoffs as a rookie, where he played like a #1 back in 2010. Then again, playing like a #1 in one's first playoff run in the NHL will always cause a player to be overrated for a time.

But I have always liked Subban since.

I dont think thats true. I love PK but the fact is, he just is not a good fighter. Plus he is too valuable to spend 5 minutes in the box....
