I find he gives off a real dbaggish vibe. People with such ridiculous hairstyles are very unlikable in general.

have you been outside in montreal recently?
would you say comfortably that all of the hipsters with funny hairdos, thick glasses and silly moustaches are all 'very unlikable'?

Starting Budaj is the right choice.

We give Price a rest which is good. Price is coming off a string of very solid starts. You're still not sure how this defence is playing, so you put Budaj in and if there is an issue, Price isn't the one suffering for it.

Now, just rest Markov and we're alright.

I have a feeling about tonight's game. 4-2 Habs win.

As for the Leafs fanbase, they are easily the most annoying in the NHL. I would think that a 9 year absence from the postseason would make them a little humble but it's basically the exact opposite.

Hey guys, let's get back on topic: tonight's game.

Glad that Price gets a rest. I wouldn't be surprised if Prust and maybe Ryder don't play; both are battling injuries.

Hoping to see a big game from Jarred Tinordi, Brendan Gallagher and Alex Galchenyuk. This is the type of game where the youth should take control as the veterans are more focused on the playoffs, or are simply not playing.

Well the Leafs captain is engaged to the most annoying character (Kim Bauer) in the history of TV after all..

But then the part of my brain that makes metaphors out of everything kicks in and I come back to this: Hate isn't the same thing as rivalry. I can hate the guy who cut me off on the highway, but it's not a rivalry until he cuts me off every weekend for a year.

Hate can be immediate and intense; a rivalry grows and develops its own storyline over time. I've 'hated' the Bruins, its fans and its pizza, but over the years I've also respected and even liked some of them. It's a true rivalry because it's much richer than simple hate.

The Leafs? They've been irrelevant my whole life (and I'm no kid). Their team plays a dirty game that I dislike and some of their fans are among the most illiterate and obnoxious I've seen on this board (though like every fan base, a few are really cool). I may hate what I've seen of them, but sorry, they don't earn rivalry royalty with a character they discovered 12 weeks ago.

Like every story, true rivalries are about character development. Montreal/Boston is a Tolstoy novel. Montreal/Toronto is a "Transformers" movie trailer.
A true rival is also shown by an inability to give credit where it is due.

I agree, annoyed seeing there dribble.

Kinda funny how they have this whole "Burn" theme.. Leafs and Burning? did someone not think that through?

And to the leaf fans that will respond...

Don't.

Stay on your board, and burn away.

Resting Price can work for or against you. On one hand, he goes into the playoffs on a high note, but on the other hand, there was an opportunity to make a statement against a team you are likely going to face in the first round. A win could do wonders for his psyche against this team going into the post season.

The habs went 2-2 in their last 4 games, but I'm not really convinced that the team has made enough progression with their play to say that they are out of their slump, not even close. That's why I wanted to see a full lineup tonight, so that all the guys that are going into the playoffs get some much needed rehearsal time. They are not close to peak form, and that's concerning.

I hope we win tonight or lose by a close score.
I want the leafs so bad in the first round, we can beat them, no problem.

Price keeps the games close, les boys will take care of the rest.

as for gardiner, it doesn't make me happy but carlyle simply doesn't have him in our top 6 at the moment. he should be imo but i'm not the coach. leaf fans are happy at least that o'byrne is out of the lineup, though.
My guess was Carlyle would have had Mclaren and Orr on the 4th line tonight just to rough up the habs. Set a tone for the playoffs, that kind of thing.

Gardiner should be playing, he is the most talented PMD there. The sitting of Bozak makes sense if hes nursing an injury.

It will be interesting how both teams approach this game. I predict that Toronto will come out and play dirty and try to bully the Habs. What will be more interesting is how the Habs respond. I can't see Ryan White not in the line up tonight.

They will come out hitting everything. We use our speed and they will take bad penalties.

If White is in tonight, it is his last chance to show he can play agressive without taking bad calls. If not, its his last game as a hab

Also,

I see these threads being alot of fun for the playoffs when we get the Leafs.

It's fun, like fishing, you mention anything derogatory - even very lightly derogatory such as "The IQ of the entire leafs team equals that of sherpa"

And then you wait.... not too long now... oop there's a little nibble...annnddddd... WOAH!!!

You've just hooked a leaf fan who cannot resist replying to you're remarks! Careful there quite aggressive this time of year. Just whack it with a few choice words. Now you have to be quick about this because you want to insure as much suffering as possible to the little guy before the Mods take out the trash.

Mods thank you for your work. And a pre-emptive thank you for what you will have to endure if we get them in the play-offs.

Seriously, is anyone here afraid we might play the leafs in the first round?
Leafs making the playoffs is a miracle!
How many decades since they made it out of the first round?

We have the better team and history is on our side!
Nothin to worry bout, they ll crumble to us the same as the did to Ottawa a decade or so ago.
Hope it works out, laffs habs round 1.

GHG
