Kinda figured it'd happen after this year. Glad to see him be able to go out on his own and not be forced out.

Thanks for the years.

After the job TBN did in pushing their anti-Hecht agenda? Maybe, maybe not.

In many ways I viewed Jochen as this Sabres era equivalent of Craig Ramsay. A very smart, well-rounded player, whose versatility, skill, value, and "fit" with a team aren't appreciated fully until he isn't in the lineup. Quiet, consistent, and usually without flash.

Hecht always "looked German", and never complained about the woes of the team when BUF was in a rut.

Truly, BUF won't sniff a deep playoff run again until they get a couple players of prime Hecht vintage in the lineup. Hoping Girgensons and Larsson can be them, or Darcy pull another Jedi mind-trick and fleece a ~22yo from another org.

Best wishes to Jochen!!!

Perhaps Hajt is a better comparable in that he was actively disliked by a vocal cross-section of the fans and some press folks despite being really good at what he did?

I think that's an apt comparison...
