Right. But there's obviously a feeling that there's good value with the pick.

Nassib is a good QB. This reminds me of the Bomar pick. We'll see where it goes.

I liked the Bomar pick a lot better. He flamed out. I do think that Nassib is a safer pick. Could very well beat out Carr.

Hey the guy has talent and a hell of a lot of moxey and toughness. HOWEVER, I hope they fix those mechanics and the Giants have been saving a roster spot by carrying 2 Qbs only and now I don't think they can because this kid is not ready to play in the Giants system if called. That options route system is extremely complex and hard to learn so I expect him to be groomed over a number of years.

Marcus Lattimore to the 49ers. Interesting the team that selected Frank Gore and his injury baggage (although a different regime) selected Marcus.

Jets take competition for Howard at the RT. Good pick.

Lord knows the Giants needed to address the QB position.

Why do you think this guy will be competition? I would think it'd be fairly unexpected if he's ready to challenge for the job so soon. I've been saying they need OL help. While they do need it this year they REALLY need it for the future especially since DUcasse is likely a total bust. I think this is more a move for the next few years and though he might not compete much this year at least not with howard who was solid he should be ready next year to contribute

I don't think he'll take the starting job this year, but it's good to have talented players behind Howard that will push him. It's a major difference to have a career back-up JAG behind you than a hungry talented individual who is learning the NFL game. I see him as a starter in 2 years or so. Maybe next year if he takes a faster-than-anticipated development path.

Aboushi is a good value pick. I've seen him ranked as high as the third round.

The Jets are clearly looking to rebuild from the lines out. It's not a bad philosophy. They'll have a great defensive line as early as this season, and the offensive line is looking better each day.

Next offseason they'll probably look to bolster the skill positions, and will have boatloads of cash to spend in free agency.

That's more depth than competition but I read it as he'll actually compete for the job and I'm like "Huh he wouldn't be going in the 5th if that was likely unless you know a lot about this guy". Yea but I agree. They've lost a lot of OL depth the past 2 seasons. Mangold and Brick can't do it all

Yeah, that was probably bad wording, although I do believe he'll push Howard as early as this year. This is a guy who Rex will have no problem putting in if Howard struggles immensely like Hunter did last preseason.

It's good value at the spot. It's also a bit of a safety net. Best case scenario, Nassib never plays. If there ever is an injury to Eli there's depth now. And it's a guy a good management group felt was worth trading up for.

If the worst case scenario happens, they are in a position to have someone they like already. Remember the years between Simms/Hoss and Collins? Dave Brown, Kent Graham, Danny Kannel, Tommy Maddox.

Cooper Taylor -- the JPP of safeties.

There is Reese's athletic freak of nature.

I feel the way this team is constructed, if Eli's hurt the season is over. I don't feel a defcon 5 scenario is even worth using a pick on. There is no safety net under Eli because there is no under Eli. Eli is the team.

Listen to Cooper Taylor in this interview. He sounds like a really smart kid with the tools to be a safety/linebacker hybrid on the Giants D. Kind of like Jaq Williams. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEX8432bcac

Nassib was my favorite QB coming out of this draft. I think he's in a good situation behind Eli. Giants have opened up options. If Eli ever goes down, Nassib can come in and hold the fort. Or he can come in light in up and Giants can trade him, like Matt Flynn.

Blech.

To go a whole draft without addressing LB is just odd.

I do love the fact that the d-line is going to be a legit force again all down the line. The Giants havent had a legit no-nonsende run stuffer since probably Keith Hamilton

You mean since Linval Joseph. He's one of the better run stuffers in the league.

Cooper Taylor is probably going to be converted to LB.

I like Joseph a lot, but Hamilton was great at both stuffing the run and rushing the passer, and he was a borderline All-Pro

I love the Jets draft. Build from the OL and QB on out.
