Am sitting in disbelief that we might just draw to an inside straight and end up with the double prize of getting the #2 draft slot AND watching the Wild pull off the epic fail and miss the playoffs

Nah.. can't happen... the hockey gods are just effing with us... we will end up picking 5th and thw Wild be the second 8 seed in a row to win the Cup..... and Suter will win the Norris, which will cause Sheas head to explode...

If the Avs win their last game, Tampa gets at least a point vs. Florida, and we lose to Cbus...we're #29 and (pre-lottery) are picking #2. Guarenteed one of Mack, Drouin, and Jones no matter what happens in the lotto.

If EITHER the Avs win or Tampa get a point, we're #3. Likely Mac/Drouin, but guarenteed no worse than Barkov no matter what happens in the lotto.

If we win, we could still be #24 and pick 6th pre lottery.

Our next loss is critical, as are the next games for each of those teams.

Colorado wins in a shootout. Our hopes of getting the number 2 pick and the Wild getting eliminated are still alive.

I'd gladly give Columbus the playoff spot over the Wild. And we'd get the #2 or #3 pick. Perfect scenario, IMO.

With one day left, we could be anywhere for 2-6. There will be quite a bit of drama, even for non playoff teams.

Trotz is playing Mason tonight so the odds of losing to Columbus just went up. By the end of the night we'll know what pick we'll have pre lottery.

and I really dont think he did this as a deliberate tank move, more just a respectful gesture to Mason.

now watch him go out and pitch a shutout...

That's fine, so long as Bob does the same and we take the shootout win.

Looks like Rinne has been battling an injury all season and that is part of the reason for his drop off and why we aren't playing him.

I believe this.. he seemed to be playing up to his usual standards, and we were actually winning despite not scoring squat, and then the wheels came off... we started losing games 7-4 and other crazy stuff like that

kind of interesting how many ex-Preds screwed us over tonight on draft position..

Lindback plays sieve and keeps Tampa ahead of us

Upshall and Goc both score for Florida

Shane O'Brian commits the penalty that leads to the go ahead goal for the Wild

well holy crap... its been a weird year, very busy with non-hockey things for me which has kept me from following hockey that closely... but I just noticed... the Islanders made the playoffs?!?!??! And the Leafs??

well, that explains everything... the world is just totally off its axis...

hopefully the scientists will fix things by the fall...

Leafs, Habs, and Isles. Keep in mind the Habs finished #28 last year, worse than us this year, and now they won their division.

true, but last year was an aberration for them, just like I hope and suspect this year will be for us

Just watched the replay and read A. Dater's account of what the officiating crew called, and boy, did the Av's get hosed. The ref nearest the goal signaled good goal, and then somewhere between the goal and the scorer's table they decided it was a no goal???

edit: and I almost forgot the unsportsmanlike that was called because "something was said from the bench" as the ref was skating by, putting Minny on the 5 on 3 in the third.

I think I'm going to find myself pulling for Anaheim and Chicago in the first round. Ugh.

I'm just going to stick to the EC.

Just to finish what I started...the final standings

1. (30.) Florida -------15 - 27 - 6 = 36 ROW: 12
2. (29.) Colorado------16 - 25 - 7 = 39 ROW: 14
3. (28.) Tampa Bay----18 - 26 - 4 = 40 ROW: 17
4. (27.) NASHVILLE--16 - 23 - 9 = 41 ROW: 14
5. (26.) Calgary-------19 - 25 - 4 = 42 ROW: 19
6. (25.) Carolina-------19 - 25 - 4 = 42 ROW: 18
7. (24.) Edmonton-----19 - 22 - 7 = 45 ROW: 17

And we had no help to move up in the draft standings. But we're guaranteed a top 5 pick. We'll pick at either 1 (win the lottery), 4 (fla, col, tb wins the lottery), or 5 (someone below us wins the lottery).

I came into the Game 1 Hawks-Wild game full intending to root against the Wild because of Liarpold and Suter. But Harding's surprise start, excellent game, and overcoming his recent MS diagnosis has turned the tide for me...
