yeah cherry is a racist and a bigot, he always has been, this shouldn't surprise anybody anymore.... what surprises me is that you guys even *know* this... why do you watch coaches corner? if i wanted to hear an old man rambling incoherently, i'd hang out downtown where are the crazies are

cherry has been an embarrassment to hockey, to canada and to himself, for a long, long time.... just stop watching

Yak wont win it. I don't think he deserves to honestly. It should go to Saad I think. But Yak not being a finalist if Huberdeau wins it... I will be an unhappy camper.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Quite a night for NHL rookies. 3 pts for Huberdeau, 1G, 1A for Gallagher, hattie for Yakupov. Hmm, who to vote for in Calder?

@TSNBobMcKenzie: I may just go for guy who was minus-4 last night - MIN's Jonas Brodin. Go figure. Lots of good choices this year. Vote will be split.

I think you might be incorrect

If I were a player agent, I would sue the NHL if this were the case.

Financial rewards are part of the NHL Awards and if votes for a regular season award are submitted before the end of the regular season - it would be worthy of a legal challange.

The NHL is so dumb, this could well be true.

Is Brodin the new Chris Pronger or something?

For playing on the top line and in all situations on the best team in the league. He is a good hockey player and he has had a great season. Yeah he plays with a couple of great players, but you can't hold that against him too much. He has played well with them.

True, but stick most of the other Calder candidates in his place and IMO, I think they would be even better than he's been. Especially Yakupov. But that is all my opinion and what I feel would be the case. Who knows for sure. It is all shoulda, woulda, coulda talk.

Yak got the most goals of all rookies. Had a better plus minus than the guy he's tied in points with. Ended the season with a bang.

He has no chance.

It would prove the voters are complete idiots once again if Yak doesn't win.

4. Edmonton missed the playoffs, while a number of teams in the East are in the playoffs because of the contributions they got from their rookies.

0% chance he wins. It's unlikely he finishes top 3 in votes. If RNH taught us anything it's that the wrong people are being given voting rights.

Yep. At the end of the day, I'll view it the same way as when Nuge lost. Whatever, we got hands down the best player

There's not a chance Yakupov wins.

If RNH got 5th place votes last season with that season... There's no telling what kind of support Yakupov will get.

I think Yakupov has a great chance to win it. No need to go all doom and gloom, he will surely be nominated.

Leading rookie point getter and plays a good physical game, and also cleaned things up defensively for quite awhile now.

Yakupov is tied at 31 with Huberdeau for the lead, but has more goals, in a lot less ice time. I think that he is clearly ahead of Huberdeau. Then there is a 3 point gap to Gallagher and Conacher.

I think it comes down to Yakupov against Gallagher, and could go either way. Huberdeau or Saad could be the third nominee.

The hockey writers in North America are going to have a lot of explaining to do if Yakupov doesn't get nominated for the Calder Trophy.

Yak should win.

Also, I don't get how Brodin gets so much consideration while Schultz gets so little. I'm pretty sure Schultz would look pretty damn good next to Norris candidate Ryan Suter too.
