Ottawa vs. Boston tonight - Who are we cheering for?

If I'm reading the standings correctly, if Boston gets 2 points, we play Montreal. If Boston gets 1 point or 0, we play Boston. So, who do we want to win tonight?

Personally, I'm cheering for Boston tonight as I've got clients in Montreal who will take me to the game if I suggest it (which I will ).

Maybe we should have a GDT? I figure lots of us will be watching tonight. I'll slap a GDT prefix on it and a mod can jazz it up or slap my wrist if necessary.

Go Bruins!

Yeah same here, Boston winning also means Ottawa gets Pitsburgh and they will get hammered. Two straight 1st round losses and two straight 8th place finishes looks good on the Sens

Here's a good post from the Bruins board:

Series 'A' - #1 Pittsburgh vs. #8 Ottawa

Series 'B' - #2 Boston vs. #7 NY Islanders

Series 'C' - #3 Washington vs. #6 NY Rangers

Series 'D' - #4 Montreal vs. #5 Toronto

If Boston wins in overtime or shootout:

Series 'C' - #3 Washington vs. #6 NY Rangers

Series 'D' - #4 Boston vs. #5 Toronto
If I'm Boston, I'm thinking "how do I lose this game without looking like I'm trying to lose this game?".

Why? Leafs are a stiffer test then Ottawa and NYI.

I want to face Boston. Lets find out what character our core guys have. Either Leafs show balls and show up and we beat Boston or they sweep us.

If we DO happen to beat Boston, the confidence from that will carry us for a long playoffs I feel.

After tonight's debacle, I want to play the Habs even more. No way can we play that bad against them starting Tuesday.

I am good either way, but I love physical, hard hitting series and Boston will make it hell for us to win and frankly I like it.

I guess I am twisted or something

I honestly don't care.

Bruins Pros
-No pressure, won't be mad if we lose
-Would feel so awesome eliminating them
-If they do happen to beat us they will be beat up

Bruins Cons
-Most likely going to lose, possibly even swept :/
-If we do manage to get by them we will be pretty beat up

Habs Pros
-Better chance at winning the series
-Ultimate bragging rights with my best friend
-Media hype will be unreal

Habs Cons
-Will ruin my friendship
-HF boards will be unbearable for the next YEAR if we lose

Exactly. Personally, I think if we beat the Ruins, we're golden. The high would carry us against anybody. If we beat the Habs? Meh.

Even if we were to lose I would still want to play the Habs, it would Renew a historic rivalry. But I think We could take them in a 7 game series. I'll be cheering for the Bruins tonight!

Montreal is 4-6 in their last 10 games

Boston is 4-4-2 in their last 10 games pending today's game.

Washington was 8-1-1 in their last 10 games.

Would say it doesn't matter who we face, got lucky and missed Washington in the first rd.

I want the Leafs to CRUSH the Habs. Let's go BRUINS.

I don't even care if Seguin scores a hatty. Just win.

If Ottawa wins, I don't mind facing the Bruins... I am just glad we're facing one of Montreal or Boston.

Facing Boston would really help us going into next season win or lose. Boston is the only team the Leafs have trouble against. Win against them and the Leafs get a lot of confidence.

Lose to them? No problem, we know what we have to do to get better next year.

Go Bruins. I'd much rather face Montreal then Boston. Should be a good game to watch. Boston is trying for first in their division and Ottawa is heavily motivated to win and avoid a Pittsburgh matchup.

If we face Boston, I think we're out in 5. Who knows what happens if we face the Habs.

Go Bs. They're going in for the season series sweep today.

Would rather the Leafs face the Crabs.

We're going to ****ing destroy the Smurfs.

No Kostka, No Grabovski (4th line 5 mins a game is fine).

Put Gardiner against the Habs..I hope Carlyle can realize this. Give him sheltered minutes but put him out there.

He'll be infinitely better on the PP than anyone on our 2nd PP.

i dont care who we face, and im not going in expecting a win either, i'll be let down enough if we loose, i dont want it to be worse then it will be.

what i want this series to do for us is:
1: Show us that reimer is our longterm future #1 tender
2: Show us that Naz is a playoff performer
3: Show us that Kessel can perform in playoffs like he did in boston
4: whether or not grabo should be bought out this summer
5: how much money bozie will get

Further with the Bruins you play a honourable tough opponent, with the Habs you face a backstabbing bunch of diving smurfs.

Different opponents, but it's almost like saying would you play the Klingons or Romulins if you were Captain Kirk.

Go Bruins; but I have a different reason. I would freaking hate to see the Habs win the division, and the storylines of "Worst to first" will be absolutely unbearable.

I hope the Refs can see through their diving. The Habs have a lot of divers and they already get a lot help from the refs.

It's really the only problem in facing Montreal.

Over a 7 game series, I have no doubt that the Leafs would win over the Habs. The Refs on the other hand have decided games and series before. If they fall for the crap the Habs pull off...I hope they're fired.

there. fixed that for you.

I have been praying for the past few days, that the standings will shake up to give the Leafs the best layout to go deep into the playoffs. but in alll seriousness, I am comfortable with a Habs match up, and I'll be okay with a Bruins match up.

if it shakes out to be Boston: bring it on.
if it's Montreal, fine.

[I know that Kirk never faced the Ferengi. but tecnically he never faced Romulans either LOL]

I stand corrected, Romulins is too much a compliment for the Habs, Ferengi is apros pos.

Bruins you face up against them and may the best man win.

Habs, you have to out sneak them, jab them behind the whistle because they will never face you man to man, they will pretend to not see your goalie and run them, they will talk but not back up, quite embarrassing for this so called storied franchise to be known as now.

Even some of Their players have serial killer smiles, like Gally, Georges, or Pleks. I would love to be the team that wipes those off their faces.
