It's really the only problem in facing Montreal.

Over a 7 game series, I have no doubt that the Leafs would win over the Habs. The Refs on the other hand have decided games and series before. If they fall for the crap the Habs pull off...I hope they're fired.
Yep, a series against the Habs means the Refs will be a factor. That's what they want, they want help from the refs.

Definitely Boston. We've gotta take it to Montreal after that miserable game last night.

see, and I have to wonder if that's going to be an issue with playoff hockey. Refs put their whistles away.

I am cheering for Bruins. Habs don't deserve the division title, and I want to get back at them bad. Play Bruins and whether it is a win or a loss, one of our players will get injured.

I would like to exorcise the Bruin demon.

If the Rangers beat the Caps, then we could play the Habs in round two. Even better.

It's Montreal. Those calls in the 3rd period last night pretty much shows that the Refs are *******...they are definitely going to be a factor in the series. I just want the Leafs to overcome that.

If Habs take the division we can only play them in the semi finals if both teams make it that far.

Yeah...it's not going to be a sweep. It's going to be a 6-7 game series.

Why are people afraid of Boston? If Ron Wilson was our coach: Bruins in 3 games...because the Leafs would wave the white flag for the 4th game.

All the games this year have been close, we have won one, lost a game 1-0, 4-2 (which was a one goal game till the ENG), lost in a shoot out (We were better than the Bruins in OT but couldn't get a goal, No shootouts in the playoffs!).

If the Rangers beat the Caps, they play the Pens, the Leafs play the Habs in the 2nd round....that is if the Pens win against the 8th seed, and the Habs win against the 7th seed and we beat Boston.

yeah, then with reseeding. as well. we would need the right combos to make that happen.

Pi: that's true. i don't really get 1/2 the calls they get. it's mind-blowing.

Is rather Boston wins and we play Montreal of course, but I'm super glad we aren't playing Washington, that would be a brutal series.

You have to think about it from Boston's point of view. They are going to either finish 4th and have the chance that they don't get home ice advantage beyond the first round or they finish 2nd and guarantee home ice advantage for atleast 2 rounds.

Smart thing would be to cheer for a Senaturds loss rather than a Bruins win if it makes you feel better.

i think if we play montreal we have a better chance at making it to the second round.

i think if we play boston, we have a better chance at winning the cup.

because if we can beat boston, we'll have the confidence to beat anyone.

but i legitimately think we can beat both teams in the first round. go leafs go!

Personally I want to play Montreal as it gives us the better chances of winning. IMO

However if it is Boston than Kessel verses Sequin + Hamilton will add another dimension of intrigue to the series.

What better way to shove it to Boston than beating them in the first round.

Desjardins estimates that about 40% of the game is captured by Corsi analysis.

Exactly. Thank goodness hockey organizations do not think the way of some fans. Boston is going to go full-board for home-ice in at least Round 1 and Round 2, not to pick their matchup in Round 1.

Prefer playing the Habs for the following reasons:

-They have a potential goalie controversy that can creep into their heads and game
-They are more easily rattled when facing adversity
-I think Carlyle can out coach Therrien

With #2 being the biggest factor.

Only reason I don't want Montreal is because my Hab fan friends are ridiculously annoying. Reciprocal to the team in general, or anything else revolving them .

Beating them in the 2nd round, as it will hurt even more that way.

Of course I'd prefer Montreal. I think it'd be a more exciting series overall.

There is going to be an emotional value to either series though. A chance to strike back against Boston after all the failure against them or a chance to beat the stuffing out of a rival we haven't seen in the playoffs in forever .

Ottawa's incentive to win will be to avoid playing Pittsburgh in the 1st round and play Boston instead.

Boston's incentive would be to avoid playing in the Leafs in the 1st round and face the NYI instead.

Both teams today should be highly motivated to win in order to avoiding playing opponents due to a loss.

Absurd thinking. No one wants to face the Pens until the Conference Final.
