i am curious to see how Oates rolls. I have long felt this is when coaching starts. Finally facing the same team over and over almost mandates it.

i hope we pound their defensemen. or at least have a marked man to pound.

Are there any Hillen assignments anyone thinks will happen?

Outside of the Penguins I'd say the East looks pretty wide open for everyone else.

The King needs to be pounded, he is the difference. The Caps need to get in Forest Gump mode and run his ass all series.

Where's Brooks Laich when you need him?

So why are so many Caps fans nervous about this matchup. I think you guys would say that no matter who we played.

We have a good history against this team, our PP/OV is on fire, and they have no Staal.

Yea, we lost last year. Think about how Hunter played this team last year. Oates will let the team do what BB did when we beat them in 5. Let OV tire their d out.

Gotta take advantage of their collapsing D.
Callahan's diving is a legitimate strategic concern. He makes Marchand look honest.

I had to take 30 mins out of my day to clean up my projectile vomit when some Ranger fan suggested Stepan is a better 2-way player than Backstrom.

Stepon was half plus fiddy, maybe that's why he is better.

Of course he is pulling 45.8 in the dot. No help there.

Sticking to my guns, i want Girardi and Co pounded.

So do I. It seems like Oates appreciates that tactic at least as far as wanting to avoid it happening to Green, etc., based on comments he's made.

Over/under on the # of mentions of Callahan and McDonagh by the NBC announcers during the series: 219.5

Driving the net hard and constantly putting pressure on the best player the Rags have is a bit different than 61 turning around and sucker punching another player.

I put what 61 did with that sucker punch on the same level as Bourque's chicken wing on Nicky. I am a fan of hard/physical play, not cheap shots.

So what is everyone's preferred second-round matchup?

This. HunterHockey didn't ask for that. Just pound them into submission.

Then this will happen

I'd like to see Boston in the 2nd round. Repeat of last year would be really fun to watch.

I would like Montreal. Bruins would be a hard fought series. At least Montreal we have a shot at storming through (not saying it would happen, but we've had their number).

Yeah, I second Montreal. Boston would be a good series, but a tough one.
