- Ryane Clowe, who was helped from the ice in the second period with an apparent right leg injury but who also could have been suffering after taking an elbow to the head, was, as expected, not on the ice and the Rangers provided no updates on his status. Coach John Tortorella did say he was “projecting” Clowe to be an important playoff performer for the Rangers.

“I’m not sure where it all falls into place when the playoffs start but I’m projecting him to be a pretty important playoff player for us,” Tortorella said. “He has the experience, he has the heavy body, he’s done good stuff along the wall. His strengths are very important if you’re going to compete in the playoffs.”

so hopefully that means its just short term? doesn't sound long term?

He should be good to go for Wednesday...only question is how much Torts will trust him after not playing a single shift for us in the regular season.

He can hardly trust him less than Kreider, so he should get in...

my thought is that Moore, Brass, and Nash know how to play with him... So that might ease Tort's pain

Dorsett had been a regular penalty killer for the Bluejackets for a while. I don't think there's going to be much problem with him gaining Tortorella's trust--and penalty killing is a potential problem for the Rangers right now. Rangers will need him.

this team could be VERY difficult to play against if both Clowe and Dorsett are back for the playoffs. Thats not even counting Staal.

Eh, his role isn't one that requires a ton of trust. Put him on the fourth line at first and keep a close eye on him. Plus, if anyone is a "torts kind of guy," I think it's dorsett.

I think he steps in immediately and makes a huge impact. Gives the team a huge boost and we go from there.

Hagelin - Stepan - Callahan
Nash - Richards - Zuccarello
Clowe - Brassard - Dorsett
Pyatt/Asham - Boyle - Powe

Kreider and The Black Aces...
Staal returns

Me like
You could even in some situations ice an entire Blue Jackets line. The New Jackets line?

I'm not a big Boyle fan, think he's a good 4th liner, but I think he becomes VERY important in the playoffs. We will need his PKing and FO skills, since these are 2 main aspects of playoff hockey along with goaltending, PP and...luck.
I think Boyle has been a very good playoff performer the past few years and he will be missed if he's not able to play, especially against the Caps.

Nash-Brassard-Dorsett
Stralman-Moore

and Columbus has this:

Prospal-Anisimov-Gaborik
Tuytin-Erixon

Imagine those lines playing each other next season

Don't know why people are expecting so much from Staal... He hasn't played a game in over a month and will be jumping right into playoffs... Not to mention his vision probably still wont be 100%. I'm expecting Torts to shelter his ice time until he proves hes ready to take on 2nd pairing minutes again and who knows when that will be.

eye injury is diff, but he came right back in from his concussion and was still very good.

We literally haven't heard a peep about Boyle.

Do we even know if he's alive?

Absolutely ridiculous.

I'm sure we'd all be able to tell from Tortorella's mourning dress if he wasn't.

No he wasnt. He was on the 3rd pairing getting 15 minutes a game when he first came back, and he wasnt "very good." He was "ok." That wasn't in the middle of the playoffs either. He only finally hit his stride as the playoffs came around.

Again, he hasn't had the same amount of time off, but missing a month of hockey and jumping right into playoffs is being very understated here right now.

He's out indefinitely, where indefinitely means for a long, long time, perhaps forever. Sadly we shouldn't expect he will ever play again at this point. That could change, but it would come as a surprise to most.
