Would I rule it out? No, Tinordi has the skillset, if anything he's already smoother than Chara was at the same age, and Chara wasn't THAT tough at the same age. But Chara is something of a physical freak of nature. He has a ridiculously strong and lean frame, for most people it's just physically impossible to develop that way.
Tinordi seems to have a really good attitude and work ethic you don't see often out of guys with such big upside. It wouldn't shock me if he became a fitness freak to help his game. Unlike Beaulieu/Leblanc/Kristo where I don't think they'll do everything they can to be the best players they can be. Tinordi's progression from his first year in the OHL now is just ridiculous. The only thing I fear is Tinordi's progression will be delayed 1-2 years if he's playing in Montreal next season. He would have been captain playing 28 minutes a night in the AHL next season.

I've never felt so confident about a prospect as Tinordi, even when people were calling him a wasted pick in his rookie OHL season. People were crying that we traded up but there was a pretty high chance that with our second(56th overall) we were going to take Bournival. We managed to dump Ryan O'Bust for him in the end anyways.

Plus, as physical as Tinordi is, he's nowhere close to Chara physically, Chara is the strongest player to ever wear a NHL uniform, Boogard included.

Tinordi will be a more mobile Gill... Top 4, maybe Top 2 at best.

Good, solid player not franchise defenceman.
Why not? People quickly forget that Chara was a below average NHL defender until he hit 24. Tinordi's game is more advanced than his at 20.

Again in terms of physicality/strength, you are comparing a 20 year old still developing to a guy in his prime. Let's give Tinordi 2-3 more years and see how punishing he will be. I think Tinordi is more mobile andw ill be a better open ice hitter than Chara, who's footspeed doesn't really allow him to do that.

I agree that he is close to a lock of ending up a top 4 guy and potentially top 2 on a contender.

I believe That Tinordi has some underrated offensive talent as well. I'd have him on the PP#2 WAY more than anything we have and then some.

Chara wasn't producing much offensivly but he was still very promising, he had the tools but he had to find his toolbox. Tinordi is playing good but i don't think he'll ever see regular PP time.

U-18 Gold Medal Game has started.

McCarron plays in your face hockey.

Now if only Randorf would stop calling him a defenceman.

John Hayden is good. And a big C.

Yeah, I know...only 1 or 2 spots. Not that big of a deal. Yet, how many times did we hear about the Habs losing their prospect only 1 rank before they spoke. And if it happened to Habs.....it happened to everybody. The sooner, the better.

Are those draft choices not subject to the draft lottery? I am not clear on that.

No, lottery is only for the first round.

Really liked Fasching and Compher on the US team in the first.

Lottery only changes the first overall pick. Every other round goes by worst team in the standings to best.

Saw the first period of the U-18 final. I liked for Team Canada: Morissey, Morin, Dauphin, Bigras and Baptiste (great play on Dauphin's goal) McDavid for sure and Bowey. Gauthier was not that good. For the USA, McCarron is big but doens't have great hands so is Fasching. Don't think a would use a second rounder on them with all the talent at this draft. Vannelli is pretty good, so is Compher. Butcher moves the puck very well and I really liked Santini. And I have a gut feeling that Samuel Morin will be our first rounder. He is big, as some offense and as grit.

Canada is up 3-2 after 2. Not playing a good game, but they've been opportunistic.

McCarron was a beast on the sequence that led to his goal. Wow.

Dauphin has been our best forward.

Really like Madison Bowey. Should go in round 1.

Gauthier with the go ahead goal on a strong wrister after a nice pass by Baptiste and good work by Laplante. Baptiste has really impressed me the last 2 games, far more consistent than what That was reporting.

Not sure he'll be there, his physical potential will get him drafted earlier than expected, I hope it'll be us (anyway, our pick won't be before 25 or 26, about where he should be picked). I know, some people will say BPA, but he might actually be that guy where we pick. AND, he's a need...

If Tyler freaking Biggs and Tom Wilson were 1st rounders, McCarron should be one.

Santini is really impressive.

Liking Fasching less and less as the game goes along.

Wilson has actually shown offensive upside, even Pronman has said he has come a long way. I thought the pick was a reach at the time but it looks smart in retrospect. Who knows though.

Biggs on the other hand..That picked reeked of Burke showing he cares about toughness to me. And he looks like he will be a plug, as expected.

Correct, Wilson has progressed nicely this season. My point is that McCarron seems like a comparable prospect.

Dauphin with a great chance to put it away after a sweet feed by Theodore.

Yes, McCarron does remind me of Wilson in a good way.

Desrosiers probably raised his stock considerably this week.
