Whoops, read reserve as pass. How do you say? I only look at posts for buzz words, kind of like multiple choice exam questions.

Personally, I see Hertl as a winger. Just my opinion. I think having a playmaking power-winger would make him a very, very unique player.
Top ten, no?

Also, with Kopitar, much like Marleau, he took a long time to arrive. I'm not sure that San Jose would be able to wait that long with Hertl...plus, you lose the cheap years/high level of play deal.

HE and Lewis definitely play over 30 a game, especially in the OT games. He's used for every situation.

If you guys are looking to pick up Gabe Desjardins that wouldn't be bad... Good energy bottom-6er... Late bloomer in the Q, only started playing great when he was half-way through his 19yo season.. When he left Halifax he found a new game.

Kopitar was almost PPG in his rookie year, right?

Yes, he does have 1C potential but it's more likely that the Sharks will start him on the wing on the 2nd or 3rd line similar to Galchenyuk in MTL. It reduces the pressure on the kid to perform offensive and lessens his defensive responsibilities so he can adjust to the NHL level. Hertl could easily be a power forward winger but his elite defensive skills and playmaking abilities make him a coaches ideal centerman. I personnally would put him on Jumbo Joe's wing and let him learn what it takes to be an NHL playmaker for a couple of seasons. I think he could really light it up with Joe or even Couture. If Hertl gets the skating technique corrected just slightly for added acceleration and top end speed then he could be something special on the lines of Kopitar but different as you can never compare players. He might even replace Joe in time but time will tell if I am right or not as anything can happen to a prospects' career, injuries, poor development or management errors.

Just my opinion.

I think Hertl has the tools to be an ideal centerman as well and considering the way the Sharks bring their prospect along, I would be surprised to see him start his NHL career as the #3C on a sheltered line. Starting him at wing would make some sense especially if he skips the AHL and goes straight to the NHL, but I believe the org sees him as their future #1a/b center.

I also agree that he has all the tools to be a #1C however, only time will tell whether or not that happens and if/when it does how good he'll be.

Hertl makes the final cut, he's going to the WCH.

He was named the best Czech player in the game against Russia.

Wow, that's pretty awesome. So he'll be playing against some legit NHLers in the WCH, eh? I'll definitely be looking to watch how he looks there.

In a fairly high-octane league.

Remember that for a decent bit, Setoguchi vs. Kopitar was considered a legitimate debate.

So was Setoguchi vs. Ryan. Oh how the times have changed.

The OHL finals will get underway this Friday (5/3) as London take on the Barrie, it should be another entertaining series.

The Q finals start Friday as well, Halifax will face Baie-Comeau - the Mooseheads are looking to go 16-0 in the playoffs and I won't be surprised if they do.

Konrad's definitely saved his best for last. These last two home games (perhaps his final ones) he's been an absolute beast... 25+ minutes and is involved everywhere on the ice. Shutdown guy, PP player, and getting in front of the net on one too... If we sweep the series I'll be glad/proud of my last viewing of Konrad. What a game.

I missed game 1 but he was once again fantastic in game 2. It would be pretty amazing if the Mooseheads manage to go 16-0 in the playoffs.
