The Senators could have given up but in the end they deflated the Balloons, who no longer have Tim Thomas to preserve their helium. The Habs avoid the Leafs while the Balloons take them on in what may turn into a 7-game slugfest with painful casualties to both sides. Thank you, Lehner et cie, but only for tonight.

For me, I see both possible opponents as being pretty dangerous. We have not been playing so well the past few weeks. The Sens just got back Karllson back and they are a darn good team. But, we have also had some really rough times against the leafs this year. Two blowouts. Even if the Sens are better, sometimes a certain team just has your number. And we seem to have fallen apart a lot against the leafs and isles this year. Who knows where Carey is confidence wise right now? I don't think he needs the pressure of facing the team who scored that many goals on him. Short of the obvious logic in trying to avoid Pittsburgh, I don't know if there is any one opponent I would really want more than another.

So this means Marie-Mai's Saturday concert is likely postponed and we play game 2 that night...no way there's a 3 day break in the series and game 2 is Monday ( she's also got a concert booked for Sunday).

Sens are a tough matchup but I like our chances. They play a more structured game than the Leafs and have way better goaltending. But if my memory serves me Price had good numbers against Ottawa.

It would have been a tough series against the Leafs just like it will be a tough series against the Sens.

Go Habs Go!!!

I think it's the kind of serie where the better goalie will win.

I expect Ottawa to beat us to be honest. But I sure do cheer for the Habs !

You know what scares me? That the habs starts the series with a scoring fest on Anderson and then the Sens switches for their young goalie and he makes great performances. It happened against the Canes (Gerbe -> Ward) and the Caps (Theodore -> Varlamov) in the first rounds.

I think Boston will get their act together in this round.

Its almost like boston vs poor man's boston. In all seriousness, it should be a great series to watch if you like the scrums and, the stickwork after the whistle. As a result, it could take over 3 hours to finish a 60 minute game .

We could play an afternoon game I guess but not sure they would have the time to prepare the arena after.

Also afternoon games suck.

Actually our defense has become our strength. It's our forward core that has been crap

Ya, possible, but with the threat of long OT not really something realistic I think.

The concert is at 7:30 PM on Saturday.

They just turned a baseball court into a ice rink in 2 hours.
I think they can turn a ice rink into a concert in a few hours.

The Habs can play any team. They just don't like big bad teams. They don't play that well against them.
Ottawa is a fast team just like the Habs. This is a great match-up.
Both teams will look good in this series.
Boston and Toronto will just send each others players to the hospital.
The best I can hope for is a long 7 games for To/Bo . let them beat each other up for 7 games.

I haven't found the official release anywhere, but supposely the league guaranteed Ottawa and Boston 2 days off before the playoffs, so they can't start before wednesday.

Can a Sens-Habs be an entertaining series?

What if the game went deep into OT? Then guess they have no choice but cancel the concert or risk major riots.

Who is Marie Mai and why would they book her for 3 nights in a row at the beginning of the playoffs? Makes zero sense. I understand international acts have very little leeway in their tour schedule, but she's a local act. It's not like she has to be in New York or Boston the next night.

aside from the 6-0 debacle in montreal, where the leafs were simply better, I think those games were perfect examples of the score not telling the whole story.

In that 5-1 leaf victory, the habs were actually carrying the 1st period, but 4 goals on 5 shots will kill you every time, no matter who you are. It was an abnormality.
